I think i have got the fact wrong.... I tot AIM developed and sold the SW for 140K, and collect 785/mth from each TC... in fact, after so many forumers corrected me, i still dont get the whole story cause it makes no sense at all for TCs to sold it to AIM and "lease" it back for $785/tc/mth. Its a sure loss money deal even f we are looking at short term...

The "make no sense" part is what Sylvia Lim and everyone is asking, which the pap reply unconvincing. Search the other thread on Aljunied and Hougang TC.

The other worrying part is whether AIMs is just an empty shell, as it was a dormant company before it had the TC deal.

There is a reason why u are the top people. if you duuno or cant control what is going on, in short you are incompetent. Just like Barclays CEO Robert Diamond take the hit....

it is no excuse for top management to say "I dunno" ignorance ia no excuese in law, you still get prosecuted.

There is no weak platoon, only weak leadership

Well I agree the top levels are still accountable, regardless they knew abt it or not, that's why i I'm still waiting for a minister to be the 1st person to speak on this issue. What I meant was they are not in the game with the AIMS directors and unaware of it. If a company is successful MNC and rich, there bound to some questionable activities going on by the middle or ground level abusing the system which have not come under the attention of the CEO until kenna caught. On accountability, definetly the top has to answer regardless, and heads roll too is its true.

The deal involved the sale of software, while the ownership of hardware remained with all the town councils,

Teo Ho Pin, coordinating chairman of the 14 PAP town councils, said.

---------------------------

if that the case why PAP TC need to pay AIM for the lease of the software on a monthly basis?

It's one way of putting opposition-run town councils at a disadvantage. There's a clause that allows AIM to terminate the software lease with a month

vote in more oppositions...let them dig more worms.

we cant let these scums wu zhuo fei wei

As long as there is a monopoly of power, it will corrupt.

This country doesn't belong to only a certain group of people, it belongs to everyone.

And everyone has a stake without being prejudiced by the select few.

Sure, a monopoly can check itself and pigs will fly.

got this link from EDMW... AsiaOne

Although five companies collected the tender documents, the only bidder was the PAP-owned Aim, said Mr Teo

He said that the company was formed 20 years ago to provide IT-related services. Mr Chandra Das added that the current directors - himself, Mr Chew Heng Ching, and Lau Ping Sum - "do not receive directors' fees or any other benefits". All three are former PAP MPs.

his answers are leading to more questions... hmm... <_<

Netizens had asked for details on how the deal was done and questioned if there was a breach of trust.

Mr Teo said on Monday that the contract between the town councils and Action Information Management (Aim) had followed existing financial regulations.

Ask them why break wind they reply it is windy today. AKA.. not answering the question.

Just answer what are the benefits of this deal.

complying with regulations, financial or not is not a good yardstick to tell us whether public interest(s) has/have been compromised or not. One can exploit a loophole, regulation wise with devious intent and yet declare that all regulations have been duly complied with.

recall the furore over TH's purchase of Shin Corp. The spirit and the intent of the prevailing law were to prevent strategic interests and essential services from falling into the hands of foreign entities. Technically, TH did not contravene company ownership laws but we all knew what happened after that.

Just cannot understand a few things.

Firstly, why would any third party want to buy a Town Council Management software, that are design for Town Council?

Why people will want to buy a software, but the hardware supposedly need to run it, is not sold. Its like I buy an xbox game, but if I wanted to play the game, I have to go to the shop & play it on their xbox?

Why would someone sell something that they needed to use? Would you sell your car, then lease it every month from who you sell it, during all this time, your car is in your garage?

Even if you say, you need someone to maintain your car, in your garage for that matter, you could just hire someone to do so.

Also, wasn't AIm directors made up of some ex PAP members? No conflict of interest?

Can someone explain my question.
