Inner wear on both tyres

Hello everyone,

My current set of tyres (14 months old) have clocked 12000+ km and I just went for first round of rotation/balancing this morning.

Was informed by mechanic that both front tyres are showing inner wear, thread outside still still looks very good.

Mechanic told me its more of a tracking (toe) issue than alignment since the wear is happening on both tyres?

Appreciate your inputs, thank you.

You need to do alignment. Toe is also part of the alignment settings, as is camber.

You have too much negative camber. Based on your driving pattern/habit you don't corner hard or fast enough to use the outer edge, so set your camber closer to 0 degrees ie close to vertical).

Hi guys,

Was recommended Kenny at AMK AutoPoint for alignment service but his slots are full and does not accept walk-in customers.

Appreciate if you guys can recommend other good workshops that can get my alignment issue sorted out.

Thanks .

Huh got so full until can reject customers? Do they just charge $20 and so the queue is very long?

If it's a toe problem, then you would see feathered tyres. From the angle of your pictures, I can't tell if it's feathered. Usually the grooves will show 1 side sharp, 1 side rounded.

If you have a sloping wear, then it's a camber issue.

Some cars have adjustable camber, some don't and you will have to either buy the adjustable camber nut. I think it cost like $10-30? each and usually are not included in the alignment charge.

Go to any shop that has a side slip tester, the mech should be able to slightly make small adjustment on the toe angle and by doing so the wheels will have zero lateral movements.

Thanks for the inputs.

Mechanic adjusted "toe" for both front wheels. Was told both wheels were pointing outwards hence the rapid wear on the inside.

Is not a problem right ? Positive chamber is good for cornering and more stable wont turn turtle so easily.
