Topping up Nitrogen filled tyres

Neutral Newbie

Nitrogen in the atmosphere is already 78%. And the so called pumped in nitrogen is 100% pure?? Did they do a vacuum before introducing nitrogen into tyre??

Bottom line......waste money lah

That's my concern as well.

Perhaps they pump in the pure nitrogen gas, release the tyre gas, repump nitrogen gas, repeat a few times. This will ensure the tyre contains pure nitrogen gas.

Air already 78%nitrogen......good enough.

I would only be interested if they sell helium or argon gas filling. That will help to lighten up the tyres.

guys , do you all feel any different after pumping the nitrogen gas ?

actually none at all...

but since it was filled with nitrogen during tyre change for free, i take it.

i later refill with normal air at petrol kiosk, no problem whatsoever...

Sure you can. but then you will be waiting for disaster to happen.

Oxygen is more combustible than air. Just need one tiny spark to ...... [dizzy]

with nitrogen, the leak is less, so longer topup/check interval.

for temp, unless you power slide or you have 300bhp, its just hype

I was curious about your suggestion therefore I ran the calculations through my computer, the helium in a helium filled tire will be only 14% the weight of the same volume of Nitrogen and at the same pressure.

But in absolute terms, assuming the volume of Nitrogen or Helium inside a tire is 50 liters, it means that the Nitrogen gas will weigh 0.18 kg and Helium will weigh 0.03 kg. Not much reduction in absolute weight. The weight of the rims and the rubber in the tire will already weigh about 15 kgs.

Conclusion, for weight savings of the wheels, better to buy a lighter rims and forget about Helium [laugh][laugh][laugh]

Hi,

What's the impact on tyre temp if you have 300 hp? Should be only if you drive at high speed, right?

Thanks.

Anyone knows where to pump nitrogen gas for tyres? I just changed tyres at AL tyres but they dun have nitrogen gas service. Seems it's economical to run on nitrogen gas than conventional air... Suggestions?

Many tire shops hv nitrogen. Most wil give u free incl top ups if u buy their tires.

If not their tires i think u can pay $5/tire with free top ups.

U can try places like stamford n autobacs etc.

Advantage is u dun need to top up yr air every week. I use fr a few months then go back n ty top up any drop.

Air pressure drop much slower than air n it stays cooler n stable fr long high speed drives.

I know a few cheap places if you don't mind

78% nitrogen instead of pure 100%.

:D

They will even throw in free some very rare

and noble gases. I think also include helium

to make your car a little bit lighter. But only

a bit so your car won't fly in the air.

You on nitrogen?

I used to be on nitrogen but went back to normal air. Easier to pump and maintain at any petrol kiosk.

OT a bit: Planning to go Jimmy there to do alignment soon. You still going to him?

Why economical?

Juz get Airman Tire Repair kit. It comes with an electric pump. Everyday pump tire also can.

Heard u can save bit on fuel, comfortable & longer tyre life.

Must be joke to offer nitrogen gas for road tyres. This idea original for aeroplanes due to high altitudes and temp.

For road tyres, most important is dry compressed air.

If free, no harm lah since so many people rave about it. [laugh]

For me, I don't bother if tyre shop fills up nitrogen or corrupted air.

I don't know if its a joke but $20 for 4 tyres,

someone must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Shops offering nitrogen are cone by equipment suppliers who in turns fool car owners who are naive aka hai gong.
