Mightymito 1st Gear December 12, 2012 Share December 12, 2012 its now 1st car claim 2nd, 2nd claim 3rd and so forth, please drive safe and keep safe distance. no more last pay all. This is unfair.... what if 1st car stop and I, 2nd car stop in time and the 3rd car also stop in time behind me. Then 4th car slams into 3rd car who slams into me and me into 1st
Bullterrier Clutched December 12, 2012 Share December 12, 2012 its now 1st car claim 2nd, 2nd claim 3rd and so forth, please drive safe and keep safe distance. no more last pay all. Bro this has been in practice for many years already. Few years back I was unfortunate enough to hit the car infront of me and my insurance paid for his repair. I was the 2nd car and managed to stop in time but was hit by the third car who was in turn hit by a fourth car. The impact of the third car behind me caused my car to lounge forward and kiss the bumper of the car in front. So he claimed me for his repairs, I claimed the car behind me for my own repairs and the third car claimed the last car for her repairs. This was more than 3 years ago. Joelwong 2nd Gear December 13, 2012 Share December 13, 2012 I think if really want to argue, they can just say the rule is 1 car length per 10km/h, anything closer, you are tailgating. So, how not to tailgate?
Speak_listen Neutral Newbie December 13, 2012 Share December 13, 2012 I think this is very fair, each party should be responsible for his action hm.., how that fair in tail gating accident ? the penalty must be very hard for people to learn and understand that tailgating is not correct. example: if the penalty of tailgating fine is min. 50% of their car market value, i believe people will learn and always remember to not tailgating maybe member of the community or group that make decision of that rules also like to tailgating
Calvin79 2nd Gear December 13, 2012 Share December 13, 2012 Like someone mentioned above... what if you were waiting at a traffic red light... u cant be keeping a 10 meter distance from the car infront ma... and also if sway one car come from behind and causes you to hit the one infront... then u also kanna... I seriously think it should still be a case by case...

I seriously think it should still be a case by case... can't be 10m distance, but can 3 meter distance and push the hand brake. that is the normal procedure (push the handbrake) when the card idle right? i believe 3m away with handbreak is enough to avoid pushing infront of your car while been hit from behind. unless... the car that hit from behind is truck/ bus or ferrari with min 100km/h
Kenomi 2nd Gear December 13, 2012 Share December 13, 2012 i had gotten into a similar 4 car accident too last month... howevere luckily i am the first car, so the rest behind I am not so sure. However my lawyer did inform that all will be claimed to the car that hit me directly behind. So the rest is up to the other three cars to fight, that is why lesson learnt from this is install a car camera to protect yourself and which I did. So far my medical fees for my injuries is already to 3000 and all will be charged to the car behind me.
