SG Navy accident

Hey...the specialists got no choice but to be called Military Experts. Who thought of such names and scheme...???

Even if they are called Military Experts, is there anyone out in the job market better than them now? Is there anyone can replace them to do their jobs? They are the ones that let us have peaceful nights during our sleep.

Come on...give the regulars a break. If the monk has a choice, does he wants to be botak?

Well said. I always respect those serving in the military. Their risk exposure is always higher compared to most of us(except those non combat roles). By the way they are indeed the experts in their own field of service, no doubt. Allow me to share an incident. A medical sgt (regular) was sent to one of our local hospital for equipment training. At first we all doubt if that chap is really capable of handling the equipment(He seems not interested when we explain to him). But to our surprise, he is able to demonstrate with ease and confidence in using the equipment. He actually share with us that a lot of time the guys understand and knows how to handle and even repair some of the medical equipments, just that the system has a lot of red tapes which restrict them. So in short, they are indeed trained but not able to fully utilise their skill sets due to red tapes in regards to safety. In fact some of my friends who are in the units told me the same thing

And as for respect for regulars. I guess most ppl here have their own opinions clouded by their experience with jiak liao bee regulars in NS.

Respect needs to be earned. Haven't seen anything from them to earn mine.

Many of the officers are just there for the pay only.

Many of them are also "yes" men. They will say yes to anything their boss wants, even if it is a stupid idea. All got no balls. Then they will stress out their subordinates to get the job done.

The irony that i find in this picture is that everyone is beaming happily as if they kanna 4D, whereas Mr Chee and his father are trying their very best to eke out a smile. -_-

I disagree with your view.

Jason almost lost his life in line of duty.

Rather than seeing this accident through the usual cynical political lens, wouldn't be better if you view the outcome in a more positive light ?

Afterall, this Soldier wants to soldier-on rather than KBKP like some of us are.

It seems fairly clear (based on the Lethalstrike post that he responded to) that he's referring to Ng Eng Hen and that Navy RADM as the ones mugging it up for the camera scoring points. And possibly the Nurse and the Nursing Sister. But not the patient or the father.

Precisely my point and I know what he was inferring.

Why the need for such cynical attitude when Ministers paying them a visit and giving assistance to Jason and his family?

It seems the cynicism predisposes some people to make rather narrow judgmental remark whenever government officials are involved.

well what are they trying to tell us by showing us with that photo of jason smiling?

visit then visit la, need to take photo to tell the whole world that they visit jason? doing a wayang show?

do you visit a co worker who is sick/injured in the hospital and take a photo of you and him and then mass email everyone in your company?

The question is, are they there to visit the man or are they there to take photo with him and say that they're doing something for him?
