Mockngbrd Supersonic December 4, 2012 Share December 4, 2012 (edited) Ya can... it's called laying up if u have a present car. Cannot drive on public roads lo. Go anywhere need to trailer or tow. Road tax / insurance no need to pay. But your COE countdown timer still there. + must give address of where car will be stored, they will do spok check one. Alpha78 6th Gear December 4, 2012 Share December 4, 2012 If I remember correctly, lay-up will also cause the deregistration rebate to be forfeited.

Simon29 Neutral Newbie December 4, 2012 Share December 4, 2012 I believe there is another scheme that is not Lay-up method. The easier way may be to buy a car from overseas as a item, don't need to register it as vehicle. Like buying a big piece of art. For those vehicles already registered as road vehicles, For lay-up case, you can still convert it back to road vehicles anytime. I last enquire to LTA how can I keep my Harley motorcycle as a permanent piece in my shop, LTA allows the bike to be deregistered forever, but have to pay like few hundreds for each three years period renewal. LTA also said it cost the same if for a car. So it seems to be possible. I did not pursue it further, as my bike still got 1++ years before the 10year COE expire. I mean if the changi race track is here, those special untaxed warehouse is also an option to keep a unregistered car.

Kangadrool Supersonic December 5, 2012 Share December 5, 2012 Laying up is quite popular with 2nd hand car dealers dealing with slow-moving COE cars as there's no PARF value anymore.
