First consideration:

Mercedes USA  Extends warranty (coverage up to 15 years and unlimited mileage) on Gas Tank Component of E-Class and CLS-Class after investigated conducted by US NHTSA (LTA equivalent).

It would make sense to the owners here to renew their COE.

2nd Consideration

If warranty is extended over in USA and why not in Singapore where the public are buying cars at premium price. Isn't this double standard? For the same form, fit and function.

Are we second class owners in Singapore? It would also be a test case for LTA to shows its capability on enforcing safety standards and not just collecting money on COE. Just this month a car caught fire whilst on the road.

US is a huge market vs Sg pee sai market.

U think Mercedes scared of local owners or even LTA?

just look at the VW diesel emissions cheating scandal: in US, VW offering buyback/etc, Sg leh? LTA got even say anything?

simply can go hide 1 corner & suck thumb.

Hi Guys,

Looks like I am having the same problem on my w211 E 200K Avantgarde 2008 model. Left more than a year to go, 90 K km and was thinking of extending COE after

Fuel smell near back tyres after filling full tank.

No smell when I fill 3/4 tank.

I haven't checked it at a workshop yet.

Any replies from LTA regarding the complaints made about this by forum members?

Any chance Merc will include warranty on fuel tank for Singapore?

Cheers

I think must pay by self, all w211 have this problems. Go back C&C need to pay $1k plus to replacement.

Hi guys, I'm new here and I do not own a Mercedes, YET.

Firstly, apologies for hijacking this thread but,

I'm very keen on getting a Mercedes E200 or E250 Cabriolet of 2010 or 2011, as I would very like to own a cabriolet at least once in my life. Also, the Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet is the only model that caught my eye.

Before I embark on the journey of a Merc owner, I would like to hear from the various owners what are the common problems of the Mercedes E200 or E250 Cabriolet of 2010 or 2011.

In addition, I am also interested to know how's the maintenance cost for the Mercedes E200 or E250 Cabriolet of 2010 or 2011.

Currently, I'm driving a Volvo S80 and would very much like to switch to a Mercedes despite me receiving a lot of privileges as a Volvo owner. Like I said, I would love to own and enjoy the drive of a Mercedes at least once in my life.

I greatly appreciate all the advice and guidance I will receive here.

Thank you!

Had strong smell of petrol after starting my MB. Water dripped quite a lot from undercarriage. Workshop discovered that the petrol hose line and hose connected to the coolant recovery tank were corroded. So if you have this issue have it fixed ASAP. Just sharing.

Turbocharged

when I was jogging just now

a FL W212 turned in from main road to small road right in front of me

I smelled strong fresh petrol when the car drove past me

both my merc had this problem and fixed

if you can smell strong petrol odour, especially coming from the area between passenger side wiper and bonnet

get your workshop to check for leaks ASAP

Hi Tan

dis is a veri Old Thread ,Hope dat u get yr Mercedes ,at Least in yr own words ,once in yr Life.

The Cabriolet u are Eyeing is the A207 to call it in Mercs actual model code.

I am surprise ,nobodies Respond to yr Query but Not surprise realli .

Ppl down here are more keen on New models Spying or Releasing & debating on prices ,what dey get or dun get.

Yr Question abt Common problem & Maintenance ?

Am sure while Owing yr Volvo ,u might over heard what most old uncle called it  ……..

Mar Ser Lee or Flick it with a Local Slang   Mian Sew Lee means Literally Car No need to repair .

Its not realli True but Merks are pretty Reliable ,save for a few Water pump & Thermostat issue .

Go to a Mercs Specialist & Go for a Pre purchase inspection by the above mention,u will be alrite.

Bug from Stockist & u will save a Bundle.

And dun forget,if u prefer a Cabriolet, there are an Extra maintenance Regime.

No Free Lunch ,am afraid.
