How many meters tire skid before changing?

my tires are wearing thin already, the michellin man's hands are now gone and the tires are starting to skid during wet weather

my friend says that a 5m skidding during dry weather is still safe because we usually keep a 10m distance between us and the car in front

just wondering, what is the norm that people will usually use to judge when to change tires?

how many meters skid is allowable for wet and dry conditions?

You have an idiot for a friend who uses skidding distance to judge tyre changes.

Please don't learn any car related stuff from him and make an intelligent choice to cleanse yourself of stupid friends. [laugh]

For me, very simple. I change at 40k km interval or when I feel that the grip is not as good as before or when the thread has worn down.

Change when you hit the wear bars.

Judging by how many meters you skid is not accurate because you skid different distances at different speeds, different road surfaces, not just based on wet or dry alone.

I have never skidded in my car ever in Singapore on the road, if the tires even skid, its time to change.

People willing to spend 100K over a car, but not a few hundreds bucks to change tires....

There is a fine and demerit point for driving with bald tires! Go and cheak with EDDIES site!

I am surprised to see there are drivers in SIngapore with this type of ideas on the road. No wonder, our roads are so unsafe these days!
