So what's the low-down on Olam and the claims from Muddy Waters? Stock price not so great at moment and the company has filed a lawsuit for defamation. Temasek is the 2nd biggest shareholder, so public concern now.

And if you aren't aware of who Muddy Waters are, HK based research company that like to expose fraudulent companies. Their big catch was Sino-Forest which went into administration after they published their research.

To Olam CEO Sunny Verghese and the Board of Directors:

In the two and one-half years Muddy Waters, LLC has been openly criticizing publicly-traded companies, we have not seen a response as defensive as yours

but the muddy water ceo very sneaky.

visit olam but don't give namecard just say he from hedge fund.

then go write this type of negative report.

anyway, muddy water is short seller.....he stands to again by whacking stocks down to sell off badly.

investors must take note of muddy water vested interest position.

So Muddy Waters released 133 page report yesterday on Olam and likened it to Enron. They say that Olam makes acquisitions for purpose of boosting profits with non-cash accounting gains. Bonds of the company are approaching "distressed" levels.

Company has net debt of $6.4bn and that has doubled in the past 4 years. In August they said they were targeting annual profit of $1bn by 2016, and net income this year through to June fell to 370.9m. So the debt not going away anytime quickly.

And Temasek owns 16% of this. Worrying.

Whichever stock temasick touch, it will turn to dust.

They have the anti-midas touch.

I was fantasising making an inverse ETF (short ETF) tied to Temasick Holdings. Whatever companies they buy, sell short. [laugh]
