Nusa Dua in general got 2 places to eat.

1. Bali collection - collection of shops and restaurants

- i randomly selected one restaurant to eat. Ok, not bad.

2. Near Courtyard by Marriott, there is a supermarket and a few restaurants and pubs along a small stretch of road.

In general some restaurants in Nusa Dua will offer transport to and fro from your hotel lobby.

I ate at this place. It's near the beach but not beside. Best to get them to fetch u there and back (really almost impossible to find on your own). The food is above average. No complaints but of course nothing superb.

There are some eateries outside nusa dua but require transport. I think mostly locals eat there only.

Since you stay at Courtyard by Marriott, is this hotel near the beach? Base from information from the internet, it seems to be quite far away.

I choose Nusa Dua for 1st 3N mainly hope to stay near the beach, but also worry not much makan place nearby.

I also consider Seminyak but seems that most hotel are inland and beach are also not clean.

I just went this Apr, got a local guide + driver brought us from airport to hotel and practically everywhere. Guide/driver are very friendly and obliging and brought us to their best local restaurant, cheap and tasted the best Babi Guling ever.

Look for Kadek by blackberry(27CC3A4F), i arrange with him everything on BB first before we arrived.

Pin BB : 27CC3A4F

rate - 450k per day

Thanks for the contact infor.

The food look yummy...

Nope it's not. But beach shuttle every 30mins.

Basically there's a van going between the hotel and beach every 25-30mins. Ok la. at most wait like 15-20mins.

But it's a rather newish hotel. The grounds are nice. Pool is not bad. Got kids play room also for younger kids.

Other than poor sound insulation from those adjoining room doors, really no complaint. For the price of like $190 SGD/night. Best hotel i've stayed in for that price. Staff is friendly.

But i think all the hotels in the area should be good. But only the Courtyard is sub $200/night inclusive of BF!

The supermarket beside Courtyard is cheaper than the one at Bali collection.

U can walk to the restaurants beside the supermarket less than 5mins.

Bali collection, the shuttle will pass by, so the driver usually can drop u when he's going to the beach. Coming back you have to take the Bali collection shuttle (that one have to wait while it goes to several hotels). You can walk back also but it's about a 20min leisurely walk.

If u not eating lobster, just normal fish, prawns, mussels etc should be not more than 20-30 SGD/pax if shared.

not a fan of the duck.

Babi guling got the famous one in ubud. Though there are some other ones as well supposedly even better.

There's a recommended restaurant at Jimbaran on tripadvisor. Can search for it.

But often the taxi drivers will not want to send u to the one u requested for ha.

I think the food there is all passable. Just have expectations like normal sze char in singpoare.

Try made warung. Quite an institution in the area.

Above average indonesian food. Pretty nice ambience as well esp in the evening.

I did check on tripadvisor, most of the review are from ang moh.

Just worry what the ang moh like might not be always suitable for us [rolleyes][rolleyes]

I trust more from the advise from MCF [bounce2][bounce2]

Must try the porkribs at Wahaha in Seminyak. Many locals there especially Indon Chinese. Better than the well known naughty nuri's

De Danau Lakeview restaurant in Lake Bratan is cheap & good with a great view of the lake when you dine on the upper floor.

I am back from the 6N in Bali (3N Legian & 3N Ubud).

Especially enjoy my 2 bedroom villa in Ubud, since it is huge -- 500m square, with a 18m lap pool [thumbsup][thumbsup]

Try the Babi Guling at a internet recomended restaurant, felt that it taste so so only. Still prefer the Thai style roast suckling pig. The dirty duck tried at Ubud famous restaurant was quite good.

Also had the BBQ seafood dinner at Jimbaran, paying average SGD25 per person with crab, big clam, prawn, 1.2kg snapper and a 1.3kg lobster, plus beer and drinks. Price is definitely cheaper than here.

This the private pool for my villa at ubud [thumbsup][thumbsup]

bbq seafood dinner by the beach @ Jimbaran is notoriously expensive. which particular restaurant did you patronise for such good price?

I think your driver will know the location. I tried the famous dirty duck and BBQ pork ribs. Think these 2 places are in UBUD.

Bebek Bengil Dirty Duck - I find nothing to shout about. meat very thin and alot of bones, got ducky smell. Our Singapore version roasted duck is better.

Naughty Nuri pork ribs - Very nice and cheap. Must go early, difficult to find seat. When we reach there there were no more rice and need to wait 1 hour for it. End up we just eat noodles witih pork ribs instead.

I didn't tried Guling Babi cos my friends told me the porky smell very strong.

I didn't go to Jimbaran for seafood as I was discouraged by the members in tripadvisor saying that it is a tourist trap and there are many area in Bali where you can have nice and cheaper seafood.

Anyway, you can refer to below price list and review by one of the blogger which I found when searching for my trip. The prices may have change since tat was in 2011.

http://www.plusizekitten.com/2011/12/bali-day-1-lia-cafe-jimbaran-purik.html

Just to add. December is a raining season. Bring umbrella/raincoat and mosquito repellent.

I went in December 2 years ago. Out of 7 days I went, 5 days rained. It rained 2-3 hours in the afternoons in Ubud and few hours at nite in Kuta.

When I went Bali last year, our driver took us to another outlet, named Bebek Tepi Sawah, the ambience is very nice, food is good too. Previous Indonesian President Bambang ate there as well.

For chicken and duck in Indonesia, they are generally smaller size and less fatty than what we have here, probably they don't inject growth hormones.

Babi Guling, the most famous one is Ibu Oka, but I didn't manage to eat there. Went to some local stall instead.
