Turbocharged

What is the most crucial factor for your choice of Teana over w124?

Age of vehicle. Difference of 16 years.

Hi to all,

would a B180 2009 be a more lasting and sustainable ride compared to a 1990s W124? Which would you choose? both are costing about the same, with COE renewed for 10 years..

One’s a bit older & the other ,a lot older.

To dab into the 124,u must loves dis type of classic car(if I can call dat)

No such thing(s)as worth or not worth or lasting & sustainable.U U will miss the point,if u are thinking on those lines.

I see ppl getting into a 30yrs mb cos it’s the cheap way to motoring in s’pore & subsequently get dishearten, yes ,Dey are workhorse ,best era of the merk history but if the previous owner dun realli bother,u will pick up a whole lots of problem.

l buy the 124 ,juzz for one reason ,to x’perience premium motoring in the 80/90s.

Mine’s a 1989 model where the E is behind the 200,Dey called it the suffix!

I particularly choose the 8valve.

for the 124 ,u have two models to choose from, the 16v ,rather modern species of dis classic.

The 8v is as bare as u get, from the modern car.single overhead cam ,2valve per cylinder m& a old skool injection.

I have owns quite a few mb & currently ,quite a recent one ,I wans dat pure old tech stuff in my stables.

and it didn’t realli disappoint me.

I have change many stuff,it’s a 30yrs old fella ,after all & I am not the type who onli go wshop ,when it’s sick.

I realli respect those who have onli the 124 as their sole transport but to think it’s the cheapest form of transport or the most affordable mercedes  , it will be a misnomer.

The 200E,E is stand for "Fuel Injection''.the later become E200,E stand for E Class...the 8 Valves Engine is known as M102,the 16 Valves are known as M111.....I like the old ''Letters'' behind the numbers, like S,SE,SEL,SL,SEC...Old time Mercedes Benz, the Number tell you the exact Engine Size, not like the current, the number stand for almost nothing to the Engine Size.

Thanks for contributing to the forum.

The problem with guys nowadays ,Dey thought dis forum is face book .

commenting in monosyllable or one liner.

if u need to log in with password & post...... wow,lol or haha

Realli a waste of time.

Fascinating for u to says dat previously mercs numbers are base

on capacity but basically there’s so many numbers u can used & newer engines with sc/tc the number are smaller & dun realli sit well on a premium car.

dats my take,I suppose.

U must basically noe what u Wan?

Not what’s cheap or what yr neighbour own!

Read it up & visit forum like dis or sign up dedicated fb on the breed.

Any time u make the wrong move,it gonna cost u & if it realli disturb u by comment make by said lady,it’s bcos u dunno what u are buying or what u realli like.

My 8v waft thru the road like no other & only an ancient sohc can bring ,my accelerator pedal is heavy & it’s all mechanical .

i suppose dis is how premium motoring in the 80/90s would be like.

My ,the other ride is all computerised ,throttle is light ,ride by wire & usual twin cam ,16v.

Two different car,2 different feel, almost like day & night.

I love it.
