Hotshot85 4th Gear November 14, 2012 Share November 14, 2012 Sorry can anyone tell me what B&B stand for? Bread & Butter cars. Basically your everyday "cheapo" cars like Altis, Jazz etc etc.

Kweechang 1st Gear November 14, 2012 Share November 14, 2012 66% voted for MT over AT but i serious doubt there's more MT car owners over here The question is Which transmission of car u prefer? not Which transmission of car u will buy/ wife prefer ? So I vote manual (i prefer), but drive Auto (Wife prefer).

Nzy Twincharged November 14, 2012 Share November 14, 2012 Contradicting, when most here prefer MT but still drive an AT afterall Liking MT and buying the car is two different things ma. Certain cars also difficult to get MT. For example my dad had no choice but to get an AT car. Cuz he needs a MPV and none of the MPVs he shortlisted come with MT in Singapore. Damien22 1st Gear November 14, 2012 Share November 14, 2012 Definitely an auto. For city driving in Singapore, it makes more sense for auto driving because of mainly one thing - convenience. Want to find a manual car also really hard. But then again, if one is loaded, to buy a manual super-car is definitely not too hard!

Turbonetics 2nd Gear November 15, 2012 Share November 15, 2012 Most manual cars are cheaper to buy. Unless you are talking about brands like BMW or Merc. For B&B cars so far I haven't seen any where the manual is more expensive. how do u define B&B cars? Japanese make or Korea make? or based on price tag? if its the above, there are B&B MT cars more expensive than Auto as explained above that it is not available from ADs and need PI to bring in. The cheaper cars lo. Those that people can easily afford without taking big loans. Generally should be cheaper la. I looked at hyundai, toyota, honda, mitsubishi and kia. At the point of time I checked all their cheapest sedan MT is cheaper.
Vinceng Turbocharged November 15, 2012 Share November 15, 2012 The car dealer told me manual car has no value in the resale mkt. Buyers prefer auto, he says, and many have 3A driving license. True?
Fastfive1 5th Gear November 15, 2012 Share November 15, 2012 The car dealer told me manual car has no value in the resale mkt. Buyers prefer auto, he says, and many have 3A driving license. True? Yup! This is especially so for the luxury car segment in SG Just look at BMW's M3. How many of them are manual? Only a few. Class 3A has become a popular choice among females who are afraid of the clutch. I personally feel its more of a psychological barrier. In fact there are guys who don't see themselves driving a manual and hence decide to do class 3A. As mentioned before, its definitely more convenient. However your typical boy racer wannabe will say that manual is the best and this is where those manual imprezas and lancers come in. At the same time B&B cars with the automatic option still use torque converters rather than dual clutch trannys.

Not true. I only go for manual cars. Initially i wanted a Golf GTI very much and all are DSG. Asked VCS if they could indent manual but they decline. So i went with the rex instead

Vextan 1st Gear November 15, 2012 Share November 15, 2012 I think many young drivers here probably never driven a manual car before.
Aaronlkl Supersonic November 15, 2012 Share November 15, 2012 Manual tranny is still the best! Many high performance car like BMW 1M, Corvette C6 ZR1 etc are only aval in manual. Porsche, the company who builts only sports cars even came out with 7 spd manual. ↡ Advertisement
