I had a Fortuner for 5 years. It is truly a solid and stable car, other then normal servicing i only changed the battery and wipers. Good for long trip too but FC is the main killer especially on long highway at high speed. FC is around 8km/ltr but dropped to 4-5km/ltr if above 150km/hr. 2nd hand price should be quite reasonable. I sold mine after 5 years for $48k.

stable meh? i mean as in 100 and above? the feeling will be not that stable anymore

This is the kind of trailer that I mentioned. Suspect it may not be legal in the region. Otherwise will be perfect for roadtrips up north with MPVs / SUVs.

You need lots of patience with this. It's a torture for long distance and you may find it disappeared without you knowing until you stopped at the next rest stop. [laugh]

I have to disagree that boot space is tight in an Estima for 7 people. I own one and still driving it today after 5 years. Before that 2 generations of Hyundai Trajet and those were the beter for space and value for money.

I drive annually to KL for golfing trip and once in a while with 7 or more people in the Estima as people carrier. Estima: in the boot space you can remove the floor flap where the last row chair folds into the floor and it adds extra luggage space. In my trips to KL[4 full-sized golf bags + lugguage for 4] the car is configured like business class in an airplane with the middle 2 captain chairs extended like a bed fully extended with footrest.

Do not recommend a SUV as the height might be a disadvantage especially if you have kids and elderly. Also I do not recommend the Ford Galay as it's too plasticky inside but the S-Max can also be considered.

Presently looking to add a Peugeot 508 SW to my drive. This is really a cheaper version of the Audi A6 Avant but with more options as I had checked out.

Alternatively wait for the coming Hyundai Santa Fe 7-seater.

Enjoy.

got to say.. Previous Estima bootspace better than my current Vellfire.. [knife][knife]

Terrios, Q7, i think one of the Santa Fe models has 7 seater, Capitva....

Just to note except for the Q7 and XC90 are of reasonable space and size for a 7 seater SUV, the rest in general quite cramp in the last row for adults, maybe cos we are big size and tall, i think for kids or smaller size adults still ok... my uncle had the Capitva, sold it for a Wish then change to a Stream... He says Wish also quite cramp and small in the 3rd row but a tad better than captiva.... and if you find the Q7 and XC90 small and cramp, the rest are a tad smaller and more cramp.. :)

Thkq for ur info but I got no choice. actually prefer non-7seater SUV. Anyway 3rd row shall compromise abit but FC & maint. is my main concern. [smallcry]

You can carry 7 persons in a MPV, but would have have sufficient Laguage space? Unless of course you get a roof rack or something.

I for one will not buy an MPV to cater to extended family for the occsaionally road trip. For road trips, they can use their own cars.

Also for space, an SUV do not have more space (boot or passenger)than a typical wagon/estate.

Then u should zoom down to Freed and Toyota Sienta or Toyota Passo Sette. These 3 models arw known to be frugal in FC.

Picnic is a very nice MPV. It is "between" a wish and a Estima. I have been driving my picnic up Genting twice a year since 2009. Normally carry 5 adults and 2 children. The 3rd row can sit 2 adults comfortable. Furthermore, wih the 3rd row seats up, there is still space to put 2 cabin size luggage bags. It also has a "secret" compartment below that can put a full size golf bag. Worth considering!

Bro I would strongly suggest tat u buy a japanese make. More reliable than conti. Especially tat u r buying a 2nd hand. I saw a new VW sharan in a workshop a couple of months back. Asked the mechanic abt it n was told the car couldn't start!!! His recommendation......... Never buy conti!! Hahahahaha, hence I buy a 7 year old alphard. Very comfortable n reliable. B4 tat, I drives a Honda elysion. Also a very good car. It is an alternative to estima. Mayb u can consider Honda.
