Sweeney 4th Gear November 28, 2015 Share November 28, 2015 There's a lot of cars in the SGA series scrapping, mine included. In the 20 minutes that I was at the scrapyard, 5 other cars came in.... guess there will be lots of recycled COEs in Jan-Mar cycle. ↡ Advertisement
Sweeney 4th Gear November 30, 2015 Share November 30, 2015 I've done a detailed writeup of the scrapping process which can be found in another thread. I've attached the link below... hope it helps forummers here. http://www.mycarforum.com/topic/2681637-car-scrap-body-value/?p=5658286
Arcticfox Neutral Newbie April 5, 2016 Share April 5, 2016 Hi,i would like to know what are the procedure if i want to scrap my 10 years old car when the COE expires. I have a few questions as follow: 1). Do i just drive in to any scrapyard or car dealer to do it? 2). Who should i get back my PARF value from?LTA or Scrapyards? 3). Who should i approach for my car body value quote?Dealers or scrapyards? Thank you. I don't live in Sing so just heard about this policy. Seems mad. In some European countries they tried and then dropped it to encourage car sales in the recession but Sing doesn't have a car industry to support. I have 3 beautiful cars over 10 years old, I'd hate to think any would be scrapped
purplegem Neutral Newbie April 5, 2016 Share April 5, 2016 Hi, anyone knows if a newly replaced AC magnetic clutch, car battery and reconditioned alternator would fetch a higher body value? ie. is it possible for the scrap yard to remove them and resell? Just got these 3 items replaced (total cost $600+) as I had originally wanted to renew COE but am having 2nd thoughts about it now.

KoreanLover 5th Gear April 5, 2016 Share April 5, 2016 You mean the scrapyard people will check the car thoroughly if the car got accident before? I think scrapyard definition of accident are those very visible damage like badly dented bumper, dented doors, smashed headlamps etc. For them, those parts can be resold, so if those items are badly damaged then they can't make more money so they will offer lower, (even though their normal price already damn low)

13177 Hypersonic April 5, 2016 Share April 5, 2016 Singaporean has big ego & too proud to driving a car that is more than 10 years because it's considered an old car then. To many in Singapore, car ownership is seen as a status of success not as a mode of transport Just wondering if more cars have their coe renewed and the new cars are losing sales, what will happen to coe? Even many cars have their coe renewed but there are still many people buying new cars.

Not sure what c o e stands for. But can they force you to scrap a car? I'd ship my classic Mercedes out before that happened! ↡ Advertisement
