I think if the Malaysia syndicate get hold of the Details like plate , engine and chassis, it may eventually become a clone car...

But then again, with the VEP and the amount of details you need to key in, boom town Charlie...

Neutral Newbie

Yeah

Let's put up rides that are about to be scrapped. Because of the large quantity of cars being scrapped and the low demand globally for used cars, the car body prices are depressed.

We should put up what is about to be scrapped and see if any bros or sistas needs parts to save! environmentally friendly too!

C180 ML early Dec2015. Just replaced wiper spray motor - new at $70! Heart ache.

I think scrap by ourselves is not as easy as you think unless you do not want to drive anymore. The cheque only comes 2 weeks after you scrap the vehicle.

I guess those who scrap by themselves usually don't intend to buy another car. Usually if you want to buy another car, your dealer or AD will dispose your existing car for you.

I just scrapped and bought another second hand. Easy as ABC. NEVER let the dealers earn an extra cent - already ripping us off. Look at their second hand car prices....

The LTA rebate into your bank account is rather quick. No need to ask them to issue cheque, it takes longer. The only convenient to get AD to scrap is because you can use the parf to buy new car and offset the deposit. But for the common jap cars and kimchi car, parf about 10k if high, normally 7-8k, compared to the new car price. I think you can pay first and wait for LTA to return the money.

Scrapping is really easy. Drive down to scrap yard with the scrap letter, owner IC and vehicle pin (get this online early, it is send by mail). Then tell the worker you scrapping. Remember to remove everything you want from the car before driving there, then do last minute check. The person bring you to the counter and you wait for them to process. After that they give you deregistration cert. Go LTA website to settle the refund of PARF, send a copy of dereg cert to insurance co to claim the balance if any. Take taxi home or walk to nearest bus stop. Sleep and wait for $$ to be credited.

Anyway, if anyone really need help to scrap. Can PM me, charge you a token fee to cover my petrol and I will drive you home from scrap yard.

where to get scrap letter?

and the PIN, is it the vehicle asset PIN?

thanks!!

If your vehicle due for scrap. LtA send u letter. Otherwise no need letter, just go scrap yard direct. No need to call too, they confirm take. Just make u go during opening hours. Normally scrap value is 100 dollars plus minus abit for basic jap korean cars. If want higher, call some dealers which also got do servicing... if car parts are new and can be savage. Maybe a few hundred more. But rare..

i just scrapped my Latio on 23 Sep.

1) Go get the LTA PIN from LTA on the spot at 10 Sin Ming Drive. If not, do it a week before and they post the PIN to you or:

Immediately dereg your car LTA on the spot at 10 Sin Ming Drive.

2) Go to your scrapyard with your ride. Bring some mozzie repellent so that mozzies dont bite you while u wait LOL

3) Pass them the LTA PIN or dereg documents. They check everything and pay you $xxx for your ride.

4) Go back home and wait for confirmation and then login to one motoring to encash PARF

When you scrap a car, you will get the car body money that the scrapyard offered you on the spot? Other money you can get back is only PARF? How much will the PARF amount get back usually?

I believe once you dereg yr car at LTA or at any of their 4 authorised scrapyards, you are not allow to drive it any more. You have up to 4 weeks to tow it to the scrapyard if the car is at the wkshop to dekit.

I stand corrected...

It depends on how much ARF was paid for the car. Its listed down black and white on the vehicle enquiry page from LTA when u log in with car plate and ic. Body value will be minimal if basic jap or korean make or any other lower makes. U get that $$ on the spot

You are correct. If found by TP, it warrants a fine. So do not dereg at LTA. Just do it at scrap yard

Actually I called LTA before posting this. My car is not a Jap or Korean, its a conti. Thinking to buy another 2nd hand car to avoid the hassle. How long did LTA rebate into your account?

100 for. Vios in Feb and 80 for a Rio in August.

Now Toyota gets only $100 or lower? Can I say that a conti might be worth even zero? When you want to buy a car, the used car dealer tells you the body is worth a lot, in the end all bulls**t.
