Aventador 6th Gear November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 I am sure most have gone through the process of buying used cars, surfing sgcarmart for days etc. For you , would you pay more for a lower mileage car or price is most important? Let's use a simple example: A) 5 year old car , 50,000 km, $50,000 B) 5 year old car , 100,000 km , $40,000 Which would you choose? Especially those guys that have chosen either way, can you share your views 1-2 yrs after making your choice. Would you make the same choice again in hindsight? ↡ Advertisement
Passion 5th Gear November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 I'll check AD for servicing records. 100k service with AD vs 50k with anonymous records. AD is more safer bet. 50K could be a adjusted figure.

Nzy Twincharged November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 Just get my mechanic to check both cars and see what he says. If both about the same condition I'll get the cheaper one.
Thaiyotakamli Supersonic November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 For discussion sake we just assume that all mileage in any scenario is real. if price 10k diff, i would go cheaper one, if 5k diff then go for 50k one. moreover we see the condition of the car, if cheaper car have better maintain condition like less scratch, better leather seat, dashboard, etc, then i go for cheaper one. Mercs Hypersonic November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 I would go for the cheaper one, diff of 10k should be more than enough for wear and tear changes when needed. Anyway, drive another few years time to scrap.
Ferrari_enzo Neutral Newbie November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 (edited) km: last time seldom heard car over 100k in sg, usually export car by 60k or below 5yr, but this coe wait & see. $: btw 50k for a 5yr car? rofl, used to be 50k brand new lol Edited November 5, 2012 by Ferrari_enzo
Kweechang 1st Gear November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 100K for 5 yrs => 20K per yr, acceptable. if 200k for 5ys => 40K per yr, it is a sure NO NO. 50K for 5 yrs => 10K per yr, that is too low. Unless I know the history of the car (check with AD), I will take the mid-range.
Tayspiderx 3rd Gear November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 Are both car of same make? if its premium conti brand too.. which can cost 5k easily for 100k servicing.
Tcx607 4th Gear November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 Rule of thumb, ave mileage in SIN is 20-30K per year. If mileage is real and very low, showed under utilized. May not be good. Mechanical gear need lubricant frequently. If not utilize, may result bad mechanical problem failure. A car after run-in need to run frequently. It lubricant all the gears and bearing. This definitely better than car sitting in CP and corrode. Frequent oil change also server better maintenance to the life of engine compare under usage car only change oil in 9-12 mths. SGCMniceguy Clutched November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 (edited) It is very difficult to find a good used car nowadays...mostly tampered odometer....cheaper and less mileage also headache....expensive and less mileage also suspicious...better check the used car dealers background, see any bad reviews and complaints...I was once kena by them...must beware, especially from SEM... Agree. If low mileage the odo is likely to be tweaked , which means actually the mileage is very high. So just get the cheaper one. Vextan 1st Gear November 6, 2012 Share November 6, 2012 Anyone recently sold \ trade in a car to a dealer ? I need a recommendation for one who can offer a better price than the AD , who offers a poor trade-in . Thanks.

Even if mileage not high, they will still tweak. Once sold off my 2.5 yr car wif 50K on the odo to dealer. It appeared on sgcarmart 1 wk later wif 30K on the odo. ↡ Advertisement
