Volvo V60 Hybrid : 1.9L of diesel = 100km (Unbeliveable)

If 50L, can drive about 2600km

that means, 1 month pump once only.

for those high mileage owners, this car worth considering even if price is 20-30K higher

For those who are tempted by disel engines, I would like to remind everyone that even with the lower tax, u need a high mileage per year due to the fact that disels require more frequent maintainance. Alot of petrol cars are now on 6 months to a year service maintainance but diesels requires servicing every 3 months.

This is true for my ford focus tdci, the fuel economy is fantastic but with my mileage clocked, im actually worse off on a diesel when u factor in the extra maintainance costs in a given year.

I think the special tax is on top of the regular road tax. Meaning @ $0.40 per c.c, a 3L model will draw an additional $1,200 on top of the road tax.

Main saving will come from the lower consumption and lower diesel cost.

Factoring the additional maintenance, what would be the minimum mileage travelled per annum to break even? It looks like the bigger c.c models will provide relative more savings. And ooomph. [thumbsup]

That would depend on the servicing cost of your respective model i guess.

For my TDCI, it ranges from 150-300 per service, as I just live near my office, its only a short 10-20k mileage per day with occasional short trips to nearby cities on weekends clocking abt 200-400 km each time.

I owned the car for a year and clocked up about 12k mileage. Calculating the cost of diesel and my consumption, definately bohua [knife][knife]

But it gives an extremely excellent 9L/100km economy in 100% city perma traffic jam conditions. The torque available is also extremely intoxicating.

Reflashed it from 140bhp to 160bhp with a bluefin but it still feelss very breathless once u cross 140kmh.

Driving within Singapore should be fine. If driving up north is an option, V60 properly can give a driving radius up to KL and return.

Other cars seem driving to Malacca and return only.

Hopes msia upgrade to ULSD diesel soon... Aware that the locals have been asking for the longest time, years in fact.

When that happens, appeal of getting diesel cars here will be larger...since the range of diesel are best for long distance cruising. Go Malacca and back too near sia. Haha

If they can suka suka cut the special tax means that in future they can also suka suka rise. Not falling for this one.

You are over cautious and service too frequently is it? Or the workshop likes to see your car every three months? Wound hard to believe. Diesel engine is more robust than petrol as I understand.

VW TDI engine service every 15k.

I am looking forward to next year. Definitely a VW but only with 6 speed DSG.

VW will have a roadshow displaying all their diesel cars on 6th dec. going to check it out.
