Adrianli Hypersonic November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 why need to hunt? just station TP at the regular workshop, every car come out will be checked [laugh] No need lah. Just provide S$10 cash card rebate to anyone who tip-off LTA of illegal car mod. Must submit own name, nric and cash card number. Successful prosecution, another S$10 taken from the fine of the suspect. All illegal modifications will be gone!!! ↡ Advertisement

Rustyz 5th Gear November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 Seems that you have not encounter JB vehicles with big and loud exhaust before ???? Personally, i have seen a few that are quite irritating... Yes there are black sheep among them. Yes it is irritating. But u say banning malaysia car to SG is a bit too extreme. A lot of problem will arise if u say put LTA target malaysia car. The next moment SG car will be pick on car tinting and so on in malaysia. Cars not so much of prob, actually is the bike that is noisy s--t! they full throttle that is the really pain. Darryn Turbocharged November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 its not the car.. its the driver. why cant LTA just understand that They probably do, sad to say that there is a correlation between aggressive driver and car mod. Not perfect, and not universal, but its there - some do mod car irresponsibly. Rather than a scheme of "approved" parts from LTA, would rather see a more comprehensive scheme where mods must be approved by an automotive engineer (simialr to what operates in places like UK, NZ, Australia, US). Would give rise to some fantastic and creative sights - which are sadly missing from our roads, and would also promote more responsible motoring. Hotshot85 4th Gear November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 No need to mod, as long as a car wants to zhua in the dead of the night it'll obviously be very loud regardless B&B or not. And this sentence: LTA said that high-performance cars such as Ferraris and Lamborghinis are allowed on the road as they come with factory-fitted exhausts specifically manufactured and designed for these vehicles, and comply with the requisite safety and exhaust noise/emissions standards. Don't they know that those supercars do have aftermarket exhausts too? And that owners here do mod them as well by flying in a qualified mechanic and tuner to install the mods? As usual, LTA is just being a hypocritical dumass.
Darthrevan Supercharged November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 judging from the article, it seems that that the crackdown is motivated largely by noise complaints. so, don't bemoan the fact that the authorities are taking a hard line stance. go blame your fellow car enthusiasts who deemed it their royal prerogative to make a banshee during the wee hours within earshot of residential zones. so they are profiling and targeting local seemingly modified cars as opposed to targeting both local and foreign registered vehicles. err, the last I remembered, it is usually the local cars and bikes which tend to go WOT and race during the wee hours. exactly..want to make noise go to the track, not on the streets
Vextan 1st Gear November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 I had a friend who was a racing freak and he modded his car, a then Nissan Sunny, to 250 BHP . Thereafter, he ever did a top speed of 200km/hr on CTE briefly ! He also took only 2.5 hours to drive to reach Genting Hotel from Singapore, driving 250km/hr. Yes , illegal mods should be prohibited as great engine power that doesnt come with equally effective braking power is serious accident waiting to happen. Ur friend balls are made of iron. Like the MA chi who drove nearly 3 time above speed limit, singapore road don't really need such high power car. I call your bluff on that. 250kmh on a car thats not aero dynamically tuned for such speeds can only be held briefly, the driver will get exhausted too quickly to maintain it for long, much less all the way. Even on an E92 i feel the car is very twitchy just driving at 220kmh, requiring concentration 3-4 times greater as compared to driivng at 150-160. Weichien Clutched November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 Only mod full exhaust system streeing and brake cannot control meh. Talk kock. Just because an mp complain they full activate the white ants out to "hunt" for all the wrx ebo and funny looking car w lots of thrust and hks stickers. Some of those complainers r really bo Liao, don't they as Singaporeans know that fellow Singaporeans just love to complain? Do nothing but only know how to write in, dog die see mp son go ns "Siong" also see mp. Many are nuisance call. Loud exhaust doesn't mean illegal, many lta compliant exhaust also super loud. Lorry also loud, bov w wastegate also loud, ban bov lor. What a boot licker.
Lammy84 Neutral Newbie November 5, 2012 Share November 5, 2012 Also, the costs of taking a 1.6l 100 bhp engine to 250 bhp is nothing short of a miracle, if you did an engine swap, it dosent make sense to even do that on a chasis which is not proven to be anything beyond mediocre. If the sunny was an automatic, even worse you must have had to do a full conversion to manual, there is no way the sunnys stock auto box can take that kind of power. 250bhp on a turbo engine should generate above 300nm torque. The max you can do to mod an auto box would be a strengthened torque converter and the cost of that is so astronomical that no one in the right mind will even do it. ↡ Advertisement
