Semi Auto Transmission Gate Orientation

Currently, a lot of cars with semi auto transmission have the orientation of :

Push up +

Pull Down -

A few cars comes with reverse orientation of

Push up -

Pull down +

Which one do you find more natural? Maybe I drove manuals before, I find the reverse orientation more natural for drivers.

Reverse is more natural - especially if you very driving fast on a track, the G-forces you experience when accelerating hard make it more logical to pull back on the stick than push forward for the next higher gear. Likewise when braking hard, you are pushed forward and its much easier to shift down by pushing forward.

In manual

Gear 4 to 5 is up (+)

and vice verse

Gear 5 to 4 is down(-)

Did i interpret ur point wrong?

I seldom use the semi auto cos I tend to forget to change gear. Family new honda Ody first week I already rev rpm to 7k cos I forgot to up gear. I prefer the formal setting too

In manuals, the first thing a driver do to get power and speed is 1st to 2nd gear. The movement is down.

Those who have played initial d, will prefer the + to be a pull down action.

Its also what touring cars and rally cars (before flappy pedals) use.

My car is the push up +, pull down -. I absolutely cannot get used to it, and feel that reverse is more natural. But good that its this good.. just never touch it so maybe gearbox can last longer

Prefer Push up - , Pull down + This probably got to do with the g-forces encountered by the driver. Braking, forward force hence push up. Accelerating, opposite force(pulled back into seat) hence pull.

Pretty sure Mazdas also have this kind of format.
