Hotshot85 4th Gear October 31, 2012 Share October 31, 2012 Pretty informative article. On a similar note, the stretch of road in my estate leading to my MSCP was pretty flooded, about knee level deep thanks to the heavy downpour. My gf was on the way home from work and she had no choice but to drive through that road. Question is, will this damage the car in anyway? Or is there anything I should check? Car still feels/sounds/looks (well, except alot of dirt stuck on it etc) fine based on a quick, short check I did. Heng-fully, water didn't seep in lol. Cause different people different height. So we can't gauge the water level base on our height. If car still can move, don't worry. So long the car keeps moving and air intake don't such water into the engine, not a major problem.

Looks like time to buy a tall SUV, so that no need to scare of flash flood.
Roadie 1st Gear November 1, 2012 Author Share November 1, 2012 A weekend back I was driving to the Flyer via Raffles Boulevard when there was a heavy downpour and flooding on the road. There was an Evo ahead of me who drove right through the flooded area at around 50kmph and his car stalled. I slowed down and traversed through the side of road where water was less. Made it without problem. Evo guy was calling for a pickup. Not sure how big the damage. But lesson is to be careful driving through those waterlogged roads. I was driving on the right lane beside him, fellow cheong thru the flooded patches so fast I was blinded by huge splashes of water. He should have just followed me slowly on the right lane as the water is always deeper towards the kerb, but looks like he wanted to overtake on the left and fearlessly plunged right in. Next thing I know, saw him stuck in the water.

ER-3682 Twincharged November 1, 2012 Share November 1, 2012 Most EVO fitted Cold Air Intake, that is why when the car go thru big pool of water, water is easily suck in...standard air box should not have this problem.

ER-3682 Twincharged November 4, 2012 Share November 4, 2012 How come modified car not insured? For engine damages due to flood, those cars with cold air intake will be higher risk, water can easily suck in.
