Tianmo Hypersonic October 30, 2012 Share October 30, 2012 Universal Suffrage? Is that an event or a representation of how we treat people? Someone with the innovation and courage of Sir Ed an event or a person? Legalising of Gay marriage - an event, or something to be proud of treating people with respect? Standing up to america and banning their ships from our ports, an event, or the actions of a courageous government? How much longer do you want me to go on for? why are you here than............ ↡ Advertisement
Kiario 5th Gear October 30, 2012 Share October 30, 2012 you are the very FT that we locals distrust so much.... living here for so long and yet condemning singaporeans. we may not have much success as new zealand but can you imagine the hardships we have to take to bring a nation without land mass, without natural resources, with economy in tatters and with neighbouring countries ready to devour us anytime to where we are now, ableit mostly economy success. Tianmo Hypersonic October 30, 2012 Share October 30, 2012 And yet, you still haven't listed something that makes you proud other than some motherhood statement. What events, achievements, personalities make you go "Yeah - that's a Singaporean"? BTW - NONE of the things I listed were googled - all were pulled directly from memory with no research, if I were to google the list would be incredibly much longer. There are som many things to be proud of, so many people to cheer about that I haven't mentioned because they are half remembered and I need to factcheck first. you should go back to NZ............you are seriously not welcome

Actually this is not entirely true, while Singapore did have challenges, it also had a number of very good advantages when it came to their development. You really should go and do some more reading. Along with Hong Kong, the Singapore harbour made it a natural to be a trade route between west and east, which was integral to its development. There is much more. And you think that New Zealand, being a pimple on the arse end of no-where didn't also face challenges?

Ngck 3rd Gear October 30, 2012 Share October 30, 2012 go tell your in laws and singaporean friends (if you have any, esp the males) they are namby pamby they will let you know how they feel. your posting is a mixture of sensible/informative contents but sometimes mixed with some extremist views. i hope you can tone down from your combative tone.... lol
Darryn Turbocharged October 30, 2012 Share October 30, 2012 BTW - Besides one throwaway line about being Namby Pamby, have I been dissing Singaporeans? Have I been putting you down or just "shouting" about what makes me feel proud to be a New Zealander. Go back and look carefully - Yeah, the namby pamby comment was a rather tongue in check insult, playing off the many popular commentaries that Singapore is the "aircon nation". The rest of it? 95% is talking about what makes me proud of what my nation has achieved - not insulting you. And I have not called anyone in this thread any names. Anyway, Singapore's impact on the world stage is something you can be proud of. Even if sporting talents still need to be imported

Darryn Turbocharged October 30, 2012 Share October 30, 2012 Loving a country, being pleased to be here, feeling a part of Singapore, enjoying it and wanting to make it a home and contribute doesn't mean that there is nothing about Singapore that I wouldn't like to improve. It doesn't mean that some days I don't feel insane for choosing to live here, or that other days I think it is the best thing I have ever done. For those of you that are married - are you telling me that your wife NEVER annoys you? That you never argue? Why shouldn't I feel the same about Singapore Unless you are telling me that you are so insecure that what some moron Kiwi says on a message board is going to hurt you? If that's the case, I have far more power than I ever thought ↡ Advertisement
