Taipan49 3rd Gear October 30, 2012 Share October 30, 2012 I haven't been following for some time - I just know that some stupid land locked country poached away one of our best sailors with bazillions of dollars and won the cup. Well quick update, Larry Ellison of Oracle then poached some of them from the Swiss, took the Swiss to court to do a one-on-one race in monster trimaran/catamaran and won. Cup is in San Francisco next year in 72foot cats which are ridiculously fast (like 40 knots plus downwind) and the Kiwis seem to be odds-on to win next September. Yep, proud to be singaporean, even if you are so ignorant of your own history or there is so little to boast about that you can't even mention one incident off the top of your head that makes your cheer what so great about a single event???.............anyone can google and if you want history lessons google can teach you as well..........we are proud because of the fact that we are Singaporean........not proud of some events............ New Zealand has some really good experience with Tri-maran I just know that the blardy yanks always try to stack it in their favour Steinlager III - the original hero boat is still on display in the Auckland harbour. And yet, you still haven't listed something that makes you proud other than some motherhood statement. What events, achievements, personalities make you go "Yeah - that's a Singaporean"? BTW - NONE of the things I listed were googled - all were pulled directly from memory with no research, if I were to google the list would be incredibly much longer. There are som many things to be proud of, so many people to cheer about that I haven't mentioned because they are half remembered and I need to factcheck first.
