i am currently driving the Passat 1.8 highline and it is absolutely fantastic.

 

Almost 6 months and reaching 9000km. 

 

Maybe people need to change their mindset about the 7 speed dry DSG.

 

Used to be problematic years back but it is much more reliable now.

 

Definitely there will be some failures here and there, just like any other makes.

only 9000km, I would say it's too early to judge if it is really more reliable now

I drove my 2010 B6 for 5 years.....some 60K km.....no problems. Sold it to and the new owner have it for a year plus. He kept in touch. No reports on the dsg except other small electronics wear and tear.

Passat can be economical.

 

Still full tank after 137km on 95 Ron.

 

*2009 Passat 1.8, 6 speed Auto.

 

6 speed wet clutch is problem free compared to 7 speed DSG.

Done 750km and still left with a quarter tank petrol.

How many Litres.?Anyway try not to use until too low level,may cause the Fuel Pump to 'overheat'...Modern Fuel pump are located inside the Tank, need petrol to cool down.

Myth of Jap cars being more fuel efficient.

 

Had the same car as you before. Changed it out for an ancient 1.6L NA ang moh chia. In the end, the ang moh chia more fuel efficient despite it's a cast iron engine block.

Hi Guys, want to ask something about the gearbox issue.

i would like to buy a second hand 1.8 or 2.0 passat, most probably those registered in 2008 and 2009. are those belong to the batch that affected by the gearbox issue? In general, which generation has this problem. I assume the latest generation does not have anymore.

Go for those reg up to 2009 with 6 speed auto. Mine is this model and the gearbox has been problem free. Current mileage is > 220,000 km.

Some part of me feels Volkswagen missed an opportunity to do something with their DRL signature on this. They're currently using a 'U' shape DRL signature on their cars... Passats with the high level headlamps have dual U, one on each projector, but I feel they could've gone and extend their branding by making it "VW"

Passat should be a 70L tank, so that works out to around 12.54km/l.

 

New Passat is 66L.. excluding the fuel line. Quite big of a capacity.

Very Common now,have you heard even the Fuel Pump are Made in China.?[this is even more important.!]

To get Tom Yam parts is better than getting Ma La parts.

Used about 70 litres before low fuel warning light came on
