Any brothers encountered Engine Check light on due to pumping Esso5000? My Sirion is giving intermittent engine check light on as long as i keep pumping Esso5000. But once i switched to Caltex or Shell V-power, the engine check light will go off after 2-3 days.

That is rare...but it seems like your fuel air sensor could be screwed and reading the exhaust as lean.

Do you have knocking when you are on 95RON ? (Esso5000 is 95 rite ?)

What is the error code using OBDII?

It should tell u what it is, rather than guessing.

I think some cars are equiped with fuel sensor. If you bring to a mechanic he will ask whether you have been using "chiong" petrol. I dunno about your car but for some makes unplugging the sensor will stop the indicator from lighting up as the sensor is quite redundant.

Went back to the AD, first thing i got asked by the Mechanic is whether am i using the Esso5000 which is spot on by him. He uses the OBDII to scan but din tell me the fault code though. Just make sure there is no any misfiring of the cylinders and he just reset it back thats all.

Nope no knocking soon detected though. Yah Esso5000. Maybe i should switched brands to test. haha.

Yah maybe during my servicing i might propose whether or not to bypass the Fuel Sensor.

It's shocking if it's proven to be a problem with Esso5000. It could be a one off incident where a certain pump had some problems which resulted in maybe Ron92 delivered to your car instead of Ron95. And then it caused some intermittent knocking (knock sensors complaining) and since its intermittent, the CEL goes away after some time.

Petrol kiosks periodically tests their pumps to ensure the mix of Ron is within the acceptable range and also calibrate the amount of fuel dispensed is accurate to a certain variance.

You might want to try Esso5000 from another petrol kiosk?

I'm assuming your engine accepts only Ron95 and above.

This has to be a different problem, not related to fuel. When you start the car, it uses the fuel from the fuel lines which contains the existing fuel before you pumped. Or unless your car was almost empty and maybe air started getting into the fuel lines and at the same time you stopped to pump. So probably thats why you had to crank several times to start it.

My ride is a Daihatsu Sirion according to the Ron Rating it can accept Ron92. Maybe i should try Caltex or Shell Ron95 to see if it will happen again.

fuel has noting got to do with this, its the car.

your vacuum valve from your fuel tank should be faulty causing too much fuel to be pump in to cylinder.

Bro is it a one time incident? I don't believe the 5000 you just pump will straight away enter your engine, the fuel line should be left with some 2000?

Edited: Ok, I just saw you typed everytime on 5000...
