Pisces69 6th Gear October 26, 2012 Share October 26, 2012 really? i tried pulling but i guess my line was too weak cuz the crocodile didnt even move to me. it was swimming away. my first cast was very close to it's mouth. it tried to bite but luckily it missed. on the second cast, my lure got hook on the back and i tried to reel it in. no use at all. best part i asked my dad can i try to catch the croc, he said you can go ahead and try. (knowing that i wont be able to catch it....) Those guys used at least 50lb tackle. But still many lines n tackle were busted. Sometimes ty hook 1 in e front n another on e tail n play like crazy. ↡ Advertisement
Yeshe Turbocharged October 26, 2012 Share October 26, 2012 Tough head to whack. Saw my late granny whack the head until her hands and surrounding all bloody and gory then the bugger mati. Not a scene a primary school boy then could forget easily... go to chinatown wet market n see, common sight
Pisces69 6th Gear October 26, 2012 Share October 26, 2012 i had a 4 feet too. was fun. the plants are main attraction, i usually concentrate on plants I wil start wh plants n some shrimp to get e cycle started then slowly introduce a few fish at a time. My time no co2 or chiller. Only balance e water quality n good full spectrum tubes n a timer. Filter was a big ehiem canister filter.
Vulcann 6th Gear October 26, 2012 Share October 26, 2012 I also had a 4' planted or dutch tank. The challenge was to balance food fr plants n light so fish n plants live together. But with tank lights on it was really beautiful. Ahhh the art of maintaining a planted aquarium is never done thing. A lot of hard work which not many realised and to the casual observer is quite simple. I got two in my house, both 2-footers. This is the other keeping Yamatos, zebra danios and silver-tip tetras:
Pisces69 6th Gear October 26, 2012 Share October 26, 2012 We used earthworms last time and upgraded to chicken livers later. Few years back saw they used live catfishes to fish at Kranji Reservoir. They caught one monster and placed it inside an army groundsheeton the ground filled with water and tied all four sides to a tree. The proud owner played with it and held its gigantic head up which showed its huge sharp teeth. The scary part was when the monster snapped its jaws, there was a loud tud sound. Imagine placing your fingers inside... If that bugger chomped on yr finger next time u can only count to 9. Hahaha Toman is actually a species of catfish. Many dun know this. Vulcann 6th Gear October 26, 2012 Share October 26, 2012 nice tank. are you using CO2? have you try keeping the cherry shripms? Gave up on getting the right balance with light and CO2 because it was very difficult. No chillers for me. Used to have a very beautiful layer of hair grass which pearls but soon something happened and it all grew yellow... Now just keep cheap and maintenace-free simple plants like what you see. Bought cheap grass and Yamato shrimps from Clementi 428 and supplement the tank with neons (note: supplement because my main focus still shrimps not fishes) Relaxing to just watch the creatures go about doing their business after work... Filter only clean abt twice a year. Big tanks r easier than small tanks. Mine was all south american fish n plants. Amazon theme.

Adrianli Hypersonic October 26, 2012 Share October 26, 2012 U still go toman fishing wh lures early morning? I used to do that long ago. Just look out fr crocodiles. I had my fair share of them. >15 footers were quite scary in e dark. No lah, now no more already. Last time wake up early, like 6am go fishing for peacock bass n tilapia. My fren will bring me to his sweet spot. While he fish, I see "water". If he caught small ones, I bring home to rear. Brought one home and rear till big then it became territorial and fought with my Arowana. It lost and I found it floating after one night. ↡ Advertisement
