Darryn Turbocharged October 24, 2012 Share October 24, 2012 Was doing some reading - it seems the US is on the verge of electing their first OPENLY LGBT Senator. So I did a bit of research (well ok, I went to wiki) As far as world wide trends go, the US is quite far behind - Belgium, for example, has had an openly Gay PM For New Zealand, I must say I am quite proud of the listing you can see here. Baphomet 3rd Gear October 24, 2012 Share October 24, 2012 I believe a MP should be judged by his capabilities rather then his sexual inclination... SDP do have a gay member in Dr Vincent Wijeysingha... but then ever since he's sexual inclination was revealed he's bashed over and over again by the PAP.. Skunk Clutched October 24, 2012 Share October 24, 2012 What's there to be proud or not proud of? Being a good or bad politician really has nothing much to do with sexual orientation? I rather elect someone capable and responsible and I really don't give a s--t who or what they sleep with at night lol
Karu 6th Gear October 24, 2012 Share October 24, 2012 S'pore has not reached that stage where one's sexual orientation is not pre-judged. Many gays are still in the closet.

Proud that people vote on merit and not on irrelevant other issues. In comparison this was what happened in Singapore - a cabinet minister was widely viewed as attacking someone for his sexual orientation.

Tatty Neutral Newbie October 24, 2012 Share October 24, 2012 i am interested to find out what makes people gay why society is against gay to me it is very strange when compared to if we consider that MAN is NOT perfect BUT able to repent and correct himself but for some, capital punishment is OK and encouraged here we have gay people minding their own business yet society is so ungracious but willing to terminate a life when knowingly we as HUMAN BEINGS have plenty of fault i am not a gay but i do feel sorry for the gay community
Darryn Turbocharged October 24, 2012 Author Share October 24, 2012 The way u phrased it, it seemed like u were proud for NZ to have gay politicians just because they're gay lol NO - I'm proud that people are accepting enough that their sexual orientation doesn't matter - that it is not held against them. Would you vote for her to be your MP, if she was a ex porn actress or a lesbian? Given that she is committed to serving her community!
