A matter of perspectives?

TS proposed equivalents is not exactly exciting. I mean, an alaska cruise versus a yearly depreciation for porsche? The former doesn't really make me feel its worth it to go for compared to the latter.

Your want to think in terms of perspective.

You mention someone have 6 months to live. At least he would die, yet knowing when he lived, he know how to enjoy his life, like driving his Porsche.

Thats perspective.

He got to enjoy driving the Porsche, while he lived - from HIS perspective ... only to leave behind a legacy of high debt onto his poor wife.

This of course assumes that he had bought little or no life insurance coverage, in view of his high car loan (which became negative equity, due high depreciation) and housing mortgage (which could also turn out to be negative equity in the near future).

More options:-

1. Bao a few selected XMM as companions?

2. Pay for taking part in semi-pro car races as an arrive-and-drive racer where the team provides a race-prepared track car for a race?

3. Bangee jumps from ten tallest buildings in the world?

4. Candle light dinners with international celebs of your choice?

5. A ride in five fighter jets?

6. One nite stay in a presidential suite for the money?

7. As 2 above but a 4x4 adventure drive round the world?

8. Please add if you have other ideas you think worth the money since you said original options are not worthwhile? :D

Everybody dies, but not everyone truly lives--thats a line from Braveheart by the way.

I agree one cannot overspend, but many people also too concious about things that only when it is too late, did they realise what they wanted to do, is impossible now, maybe too old, terminal illness etc.

Moderation is key. You only live once.

How much wealth a person really needs to leave behind assuming he has already set aside enough for spouse n children a reasonable amount, not excessive amount for their moderate needs knowing excessive figures will actually spoil them?

We may be still in our 30s or older now, but it is good to set the target early to work towards.

Once the person reaches his target to take care of himself and family, any further accumulation of it becomes spare money for pure enjoyments, charity, or to be utilized to generate more money. The last use can be never ending though some may feel making money purely for the sake of it is a big enjoyment! :D

As long as he spends, and only spends, money that HE earned, dun think anyone should have a quarrel nor authority on where he spends it ba...

That's another perspective [:)]

Another person may cheat or rob to take care of his family n spend the balance for hid Porsche! But not really fair coz when the law catches up with him the family will lose him or even have to bear the legal cots etc. [:(]

I wonder, do you see how asinine your assumptions are?

out of the above, perhaps number 7, a 4x4 adventure drive round the world. one night stay in presidential suite really can forget it. haha..if one to stay one night in presidential suite for 24k, I rather take the alaska cruise. number 5 also can conisder. but only one ride? If a few rides, will be more tempting.. [laugh]

Some ideas I find ok, but 2k for fine dining a month? I am assuming dining for family only, not treat friends & relative every week.

Unless every day eat in restaurant or something....I find myself harder & harder to relate to fellow SInagporean.

In any case, I believe the best dinner is the one make at home. Have you guys ever wonder, why in movies, when they wanted to show a nice warm family/friend gatherings or something, or a happy ending, it almost end up with a nice dinner at someones home (not restaurant)?

I think a nice home dinning culture (if there were once) seems to be lost amount many Singaporeans.

Ha ha. One flight alone can make one vomit till cockpit messy...... Few rides probably make one throw out his entire intestines

However, if it's only a WW2 plane, maybe balls shrink only when it does free fall n rolls at the same time [:)]
