Maybe something has got into e fan compartment n rubbing on e blades? Seldom i hear fan motor spoil especially only 5 year car. U can try to dismantle n remove whatever inside or send to ac ws to check.
Wavvyykaa October 24, 2017 Share October 24, 2017 Hi Need help There is this roaring sound from engine compartment when car move off from stationary sounded very rough. Normally about 2000rpm onwards. When ok highway which rpm is normally below 2000 there is not significant sound. This roaring sound will sometimes disappear and it will be smooth like baby but most of time it is around. Abit like modified exhaust sound but my car is stock. Albeniz Turbocharged October 18, 2020 Share October 18, 2020 (edited) Hi Folks, I am hearing this noise from the engine bay. Besides the sound from the belt, it seems to have this "kroc, kroc" sound in between too. What is a likely problem? Compressor, bearing or belt jam? My old Teana is parked in a multi-storey car park. Should I drive another 10km to the workshop or should I call a tow vehicle? Thanks. I am attaching 2 videos below. Edit - Seems that the browser can only play the sound but can't show the video. noise1_.mp4 noise2_.mp4 Edited October 18, 2020 by Albeniz
Apple-Tree 6th Gear October 18, 2020 Share October 18, 2020 Sound like your serpentine belt is cracked ?? Maybe. Inspect your belt. Drive to workshop lor. If on the way break, battery charge will light up. Time your watch, you have generally about 30 mins to reach your repair shop. Watch temperature. Off Radio, Aircon - don't work but still need to turn off aircon if it is magnetic clutch, off headlight. It happened to me once .......
Volvobrick Supersonic October 18, 2020 Share October 18, 2020 Kroc Kroc sound seems like some broken parts inside the engine.... Hope it is not that serious!

If i were you I would drive it to a workshop, but if you are afraid, spending $50 to $100 to buy a peace of mind to tow your car is fine too. just go on the middle to left lane and watch the instrument cluster for exceptions while driving.
Mkl22 Supersonic October 18, 2020 Share October 18, 2020 (edited) If sound only appears when aircon is on, the likely compressor. Else like the rest said, tensioner or one of the bearings. If it’s a belt, it will squeak instead of this sound. try shining a torch in there to see if any of the pulley is wobbling. Parts and labour = $160. And also passed the vehicle inspection! Edited October 20, 2020 by Albeniz ↡ Advertisement
