NightWind 4th Gear April 7, 2015 Share April 7, 2015 Bro each android box has different attributes for different individuals needs and price range. I suggest you go sim lim and talk to the Minix autorised seller, Amconics. You can also do your own research n look at the reviews on google n youtube. Unless you know which apps you want and where to install them, its better to buy from the seller direct as they will advise u what apps meets your needs and install them for you. The apps are the most important. A relative of mine bought his Minix online and it came barebones without the apps he needs. And he had to pay an installation fee and take it to sim lim to install the apps. XBMC (now known as Kodi) is also free to download and use. Can't stand these shops insisting that customers pay another $20 for them to install these free stuff.

Lala81 Hypersonic April 7, 2015 Share April 7, 2015 https://www.facebook.com/groups/tvboxsg/?pnref=lhc This is an offshoot from the EDMW internet tv box thread. Tons and tons of info here for those interested. I'm considering between minix (english interface) vs buying from TB a himedia via daigou65 On 4/7/2015 at 2:39 AM, Alpha78 said: Most of the apps can be found on Shafa Market, why need to pay installation fee? That being said, getting these boxes does require some effort and troubleshooting to set up. Free things ... have to work a bit lah. If u expect something like starhub set top box, then u will be sorely disappointed.

Still sourcing for a cheaper place to buy.

Ahseng 5th Gear April 7, 2015 Share April 7, 2015 (edited) Hi Bros, Alot of good stuff said about andriod boxes. How about andriod tv? I just bought this awhile ago, it has built in andriod 4.4. Can i find those apps that are in the andriod boxes and this will work just like the box does? All i've done is install MXplayer to watch downloaded stuff and tried out the youtube app. Not yet applied for any internet service, just finish reno the BTO flat. To stream youtube or videos what will be the needed speed? I know the faster the better, but i don't need light speed fast, i only need what's enough..haha. at least to do HD video on youtube lagless. location is in punggol, heard some people said Myrepublic is crap for that location. Please give me some recommendation on what can be done to make the TV work magic! hahaha http://www.regza-asia.com/product-features-l5450.html Thanks! Lala81 Hypersonic April 7, 2015 Share April 7, 2015 From my reading so far, xiaomi requires a lot of work through. Wouldn't be my first choice. Hi media and minix are probably more straight forward to operate.
NightWind 4th Gear April 7, 2015 Share April 7, 2015 If u buy the box at the shop n tell them what u want, installation is free. My fren bought his box online n it came without the apps he wanted. Xmbc also there but not setup n configured. He is from malaysia so he took box to the shop here n they forced him to pay $40 installation fee. But they configured n loaded all the apps for him including his epl subscription. The $40 includes the epl subscription. Not everyone is so tech saavy here n the shops profit from that. Its fair enough as they did not sell him the box in the first place. Otherwise the installation would be free. But how about the rest of us cheapo who want to buy online, say Minix, and then search for apps to install ourselves. Is it that difficult ? I'm thinking perhaps buying from aliexpress would be just like buying a hardware only and nothing else is inside, perhaps just a OS ?

Initially, I was apprehensive how to operate the minix. The user interface / layout is similar to android smartphone. Except it cannot make phone calls. The procedure to download apps is the same. NightWind 4th Gear April 8, 2015 Share April 8, 2015 (edited) If you know what you want, where to find it and how to install and setup the app, then of coz you can do it yourself. Obviously this takes some minimum knowledge and time. Not all the apps are readily found on the Playstore. For eg the chinese korean jap n other more exotic apps need some research. And the store already has these apps. An easier way is to copy the Apk file from an existing android box and simply install this in your new box. But you still need to know what app you want and how to find and copy the apk file. I had to find some of these on torrent fyi. Most of the apps are ready for use after installation. But some like XMBC may require configuration and more setup. For me i prefer to just get the seller to load it all for free on the box as i can take it home and use it plug n play style immediately. Sorry, i not very patient bro. Haha As there are always new apps, its worth visiting the shop every few months to find what the latest apps are. Sometimes, we also only know we want the specific app after several days of use of the box. On 4/7/2015 at 4:41 PM, Kb27 said: Yes, of coz the shop to make some money.
