Dlar2 Neutral Newbie February 22, 2013 Share February 22, 2013 I find that comparing MY drivers' behavior in terms of road hogging, those between KL / Ipoh to Butterworh vs those between JB n KL, the former drivers seem to road hog more. Anyone has the same observation? Yes. It is true. You are spot on. South portion can easily accelerate to 200km/h North portion hardly got chance, at above 140km/h you already step on brake very often
Dlar2 Neutral Newbie February 22, 2013 Share February 22, 2013 Its a common sight on NS highway and anywhere in Malaysia and Spore that Malaysia cars hog the road. I use the NS highway almost everyday in fact. The only best time to avoid road hoggers in Malaysia is to drive from 4-5am. Correct. I always start driving at 4am. After 8am cannot speed, police come out already.
Kiadaw 6th Gear February 22, 2013 Share February 22, 2013 (edited) It always amaze me that people here act like the NSHW is sort of Nivana of driving roads, & make a big deal how frequent they travel on it. I am surprise Top Gear haven't make a segment on the NSHW. Most highways follow these simple & similar rules. 1) Travel always on the outer lane unless special cicumstances (like road work, debris etc) or overtaking. 2) Inner lane are only for overtaking, & overtaking only allow from inner lane to outerlane. 3)Always return to outer lane after overtaking Following this rules & you will be fine in most first world countries I reckon. Also it give me the chill when people here mention how fast they travel, especially when driving cars not meant for such speed, & safety features like ESP. Well if they can't even follow such rules in the local expressways you can be sure they won't give a damn when travelling up north. Its so common to see idiots with the intention of driving at cruising speeds blatantly taking up the extreme right lanes.

But usually they start work about 730am, but no guaranty on this timing though. Happy driving

I feel Ok with the drivers whom you find surprising to you coz if they usually only drive in sgp, the open space feels NSHW gives them is a big change in driving experience for them, making a deal of it by these drivers is quite a normal human response to the feels mentioned. No one is "perfect" ie conforming to our own expectations or "benchmarks" for them.

Yup, we could almost have the entire highway to ourselves for as far as our eyes can see at these wee hours If the polis took the trouble to start work so early, I give my hat to them

Dinobros 2nd Gear June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 Those speeding alphard/estima/vellfire know how to move out of the way once they notice that they cannot shake you off at their 170-180 pace. But better to follow behind cos they damn aggressive and good for clearing traffic out of the way. Yup, love to follow behind them. They often travel at a good 160-170 speed. The other type is their L200 Storm. Those turbo diesel also travel at 160-170 speed and when it comes to climbing, their torque is DAMN powerful. Aaronlkl Supersonic June 25, 2013 Share June 25, 2013 Singaporean has enormous ego. I once encountered a SG registered Odyssey travelling at abt 190km/h. I flashed my high beam expecting this joker give way but he didn't. So gotta follow him for a while till left lane clear b4 overtaking from the left ↡ Advertisement
