Robo 2nd Gear October 10, 2012 Share October 10, 2012 NSHW is in MY where 99 out of 100 of the cars are MY cars for obvious reasons. The odds of bumping to a S plate car are very remote, yet if they happened to be the very one to road hog your car...well, what can we say? remote??? i guess u seldom head north ↡ Advertisement
Hotshot85 4th Gear October 10, 2012 Share October 10, 2012 (edited) To me this is a lot more dangerous and bad driving than tailgating or flashing lights. Atleast the intentions are known and the driver ahead can take corrective action in tailgating or flashing lights. Here the moron comes in right lane at 120 kph trying to overtake oblivious of the fact that there is a projectile coming towards him at a much higher speed. For all you know the high speed car may not have enough time to brake also. This is utter recipe for disaster and the guy who does is an epitome of moronic behavior. I get extra cautious if I see two cars tailgating each other in left lane or a car tailgating a truck ahead, expecting such morons and I have found such morons in NSHW. Yes agree, happened to me once. Stupiak fugly purple proton cut out right infront of me while I was doing 180. Couldn't even accelerate past the lorry that he suddenly intended to overtake after watching them from far for a damn long time (road was super straight so I could see quite far). Couldn't brake on time to avoid hitting his backside, so swerved to the left and the truck was still there. No choice, had to swerve even further left onto the grass. Lost all grip then and car spun around a few times lol. Thankfully no longkangs or barriers during that stretch. Lesson learnt. After that, I too, always keep a lookout and sometimes will highbeam the tailgater to warn him that I'm coming fast on the right. TVT Supercharged October 10, 2012 Share October 10, 2012 NSHW is in MY where 99 out of 100 of the cars are MY cars for obvious reasons. The odds of bumping to a S plate car are very remote, yet if they happened to be the very one to road hog your car...well, what can we say? It depends also on which part of NSHW you are referring to. In Johor, Malacca and Selangor states, it should not be remote. Perhaps in further Northern states of Kedah and Perlis, it is remote. Also depends on season - school holidays period quite common to see S plate cars on NSHW.
Hotshot85 4th Gear October 10, 2012 Share October 10, 2012 I have seen countless case, bus or trucks signal, cars speed up very fast to not let the bus or truck overtake (actually they don't want to be delayed) end up jamming brake, horn and flash, I think it's dumb, the bus or truck already come out half way, and that's their only chance, they won't really care what the cars do already because they are BIG. I also met a lot of times when I'm near the bus or trucks they saw me and they signal in advance but not over take until I pass them. True true, usually if big vehicles already signal their intentions, I will hover at their 5 O'clock position and see if they're just gonna swing out or not. But more often then not, they're courteous enough to let me pass first.

Topspin 2nd Gear October 10, 2012 Share October 10, 2012 remote??? i guess u seldom head north At least once a year, if not more. Often travel beyond KL. Once even reached the border of Thailand! Of course for those who don't travel beyond the first petrol service station would get the impression that JB is part of Woodlands..

Glad to know that no injury and you were able to spin/stop safely To recall it..., if there is no room to swerve left, the only choice is to jam brake..., and risk hitting the Proton right in front. Based on physic, the impact from the back will send the Proton out of traction, spin or swerve left or right, etc. From your experienece, now that you recall the moment, would you have chosen to brake, and the risk of hitting the Proton to send it out of traction... ? Rather you swerve left, spin... while watching the Proton sped off... ? Anyone had Advance Driving skills can share your advice ? What best to do under this situation ? I guess I would still have chosen to brake and swerve cuz I quickly scanned around during the incident to see what were my avoidance options, and since there were no obstacles on the left after the road shoulder I decided to try saving my ride instead of having 2 cars crashing together. Still feeling sore that the bugger just drove off as if nothing happened though (although one can also argue its my fault for going so fast in the first place lol). That was during my early days of car ownership so I was still pretty noob at handling such situations. Luckily my ABS kicked in, could feel it. But was abit dumbfounded and pissed at the same so my foot was on the brakes during the whole scenario haha. In the end I ended up back on the roads by luck, and stopped a few inches away from the centre divider facing the reverse direction. Needless to say, all the other cars were pretty dumbfounded too. The odds of bumping to a S plate car are very remote, yet if they happened to be the very one to road hog your car...well, what can we say? Atleast upto KL you do see SG cars frequently. Beyond KL the rate goes down drastically. And beyond Ipoh/Penang is remote. Majority of the events that has triggered this discussion is only about the 350 kms between Singapore and KL. I did not see a single SG car beyond Penang when I drove to Thailand. Nainar

I am a frequent traveller on NSHW too. IMHO, when there is a need to drive above speed limit, always : - Look ahead (car in front of your front car) and observe around as much as possible, - Always expect the un-expected, ie : do not expect the expressway is always clear of obstacle, especially at night, - Look out for slower moving vehicle, and maintain safe braking distance. Don't hesitate to use the horn and high beam. - Make sure brake is good, tyres too, - Practice defensive driving, be "expressway smart", ie : don't road hog (ie : some vehicles can not brake-stop in time) - Watch out for cross wind (float vehicle at high speed)
Galantspeedz Turbocharged October 10, 2012 Share October 10, 2012 aiya eveyone has their own speed cut limited by balls, car or even the human besides or behind......... why bother how fast or slow you all can go.... most important is be safe....... argue until cows come home..... i think you all also won't meet and have a run..... so let's just enjoy NSHW in the way we want ↡ Advertisement
