CMS Clutched October 7, 2012 Share October 7, 2012 Recently when I was turning my steering wheel, I could hear a "tok" sound occassionally. What could be the cause?? Bushing?? I'm driving a Kia cerato forte with electric powering steering. Also, can anyone tell me when to change the suspension bushing?? my ride is quite harsh especially driving past uneven road (rocking heavily). I have just change my shock to koup shock but my spring is still stock. I know koup shock is a bit harder which may causes the harsh ride but is there any way to improve it. ?? No coilover please... ↡ Advertisement

Eng40765 1st Gear October 7, 2012 Share October 7, 2012 How much?? My 2006 wish SGD400 both sides, Forte not sure, should be about there or cheaper. Mechanic told me drive shaft wont break, just oil leak and then knocking sound. But I change anyway. Good luck.

Drive Shaft worn out. Depending on the age of your car, if left 2 to 3 years, can change re-con one, cheaper and could easily last 2 to 3 yrs. If your car is less the 5 yrs, go back the AD as it might be covered by the 5 yrs warranty and have it change. If no warranty, its still worth it to change new ones as it will last you another 4 to 5 yrs. Please change both drive shafts (1 pair), I have known ppl trying to save money and change only 1 side... Maxus-MIFA9 Supersonic October 8, 2012 Share October 8, 2012 mileage 87k... 87k, so should be around 5yrs old car. you might have the habits of turning your wheels whilst stationary or fully locked to one side whilst making a 'U' turn. If fully locked whilst making a 'U' turn would shorten the drive shaft life. Same for turning the steering (wheels) whilst the wheels in still position. It add stress to the drive shaft. Maxus-MIFA9 Supersonic October 8, 2012 Share October 8, 2012 If dont change the drive shaft, any impact? It will break off if prolong use wthout changing. Might cause accident due to no control on one wheels... unless you like to hear the crock, crock, crock sounds everytime you make a 'U' turn ...
