agreed, safety first.. although they used to it, but there are still risks...

I prefer those replace with a standby mini-battery

I agree. Same here.

Precisely, don't be penny wise pound foolish.

If suay suay something happened to your ECU which cost thousand of dollars, do you think the shop will take responsibility?

Maybe we can list down the shops that use backup power while changing battery

- Guan Lee Tyre (change battery for 2 cars there), mr Tay automatically will use another battery to power the car thru' the 12V socket

Good efforts to start off with the list. [thumbsup]

Nothing is more important than safety.

- KB Lee - Freelancer. Include roadside rescue service. Will use another battery on car 12V socket also. Changed once with him.

Btw anyone roughly know normally a battery can last how long?

Amaron, from my experience on different cars, definitely more than 2 years.

Just change every 2 years and you are safe.

My Nissan Latio battery flat few days ago. Call up my insurance company and they despatch a mechanic. Bought a Amaron battery from him at $130. Think the price quite reasonable.

It's reasonable if you factor in the transport cost.

Else just change yr battery every 2 years.

I change the battery for my friend's Latio for only $98 at Guan Lee Tyres. Besides the price, he also use a backup battery to power the car while changing the battery and I like to support this type of small biz where he do the job himself, not some ah tiongs.

Wow, that's cheap. Maybe next time go there to change.

So they ask u to keep the engine running while changing? :o

I advise you to change shop.

nope bro. they didnt keep the engine on for my case.

only troublesome thing is no back up power source. the cars and my hu settings / eq need to re-do. <_<

I see, quite troublesome.

The thing to connect the battery to the power socket is not expensive, don't know why so many shop can't be bothered with it.

They are penny wise pound foolish - just have no idea what is customer service. High time they close shop.
