My personal experience with Top 93 earlier this year in April.

I got to know about them as they advertise their custom made rims on BMW.sg forum.

Having changed my 125 coupe for a XC60, this shop was pretty attractive due to their custom made rims, letting u decide the pcd and offset and centrebore and whatnot. It's a headache searching for rims suitable for Volvos due to their particular pcd 5x108.

Besides selling custom made rims, they also deal in 2nd hand rims. In fact they have a basement stocked with lots of stock rims, well, mostly continental. And their showroom fronting the shop gives u a nice and comfy feel when selecting the custom made rims. I remember having to remove my shoes before entering this part of the shop.

At no point during my time there was I ever spoken rudely to or anything like that. Even though their prices are by no means cheap, (about $1900 per piece for a 20" without tyres) the guy that attended to me was patient and willing to share even though I was reluctant to make a decision at that first visit.

Just being objective here. They are a business. And businesses need to make money. When you don't agree with the prices, you part ways. There will always be some other place with prices that do meet your budget and expectations.

While I respect TS's integrity in telling his story, there's always 2 sides to a coin. So, I do not think ppl should be too quick to judge and say " boycott them" or something like that. Peace.

I do not know SGCMniceguy neither do I have any business relations with Top93, but honestly speaking I am very sceptical and highly suspicious with SGCMniceguy's review.

I was there looking at rims and it happened that he was also attending to an Indian father and son customer. It took My Yang a very long time but eventually closed the deal. He did share me that it was a very difficult deal with very low margin as the father and son drove a very hard bargain. As a matter of fact, I actually found the father abit annoying with the price bargaining but at no point in time did I see My Yang being rude to the customer.

In fact, I was so impressed with his patience and business ethics that I decided and bought a set of rims and tyres from him. I left the shop a happy customer.

There are always 2 side to a coin and perhaps there are some misunderstanding or miscommunication between you and Mr Yang that left such a bad impression on you.

It seemed to me that there are more positive than negative reviews, therefore I strongly urge those who have not been to the shop give Mr Yang a fair judgement.

Cheers!

are you a fan club of tyres and rims? you came into the forum and your first post is about this?

the problem with alot of drivers is they think their new rims from showroom worth alot.. these are stock rims.. you have to understand its a standard on all cars from the showroom even if you drive BMW or Merc... no difference from Honda or Toyota... i have to say $300 is alittle low for trade in but are your rims scratched and dented? also what rims did you selected and what size?

Top 93 rims are not cheap and some brands of rims goes up to 2k just for 1 such as DPE and HRE rims...

"If you want cheap wheels, don't come here!"

"My shop sells expensive wheels, small car like you all, we don't do business..."

This is my general experience with most Tyre shop in Singapore. The biggest car that I own is only 1600 cc. I have own 660, and 1000 cc car before. Therefore, I only go to Alexandra Village for change my tyres, $75 per piece for 185/60r14. Cheap tyres for cheap car. No supper services, because it is only $300 for 4 tyres.

Long time ago, when I tried to get a set of 2nd sport rim for my honda civic. Budget $1k, go to the shop, the boss say no $2k no talk. I ended up with the original iron RIM until it scrap.

BMW 1 series to a lot of us is a very expensive car (> $150K). However, with respect to the tyres shop owner, it is just a baby car.

My conclusion is those who own very very expensive car, you might continues with your existing VIP services. However, poor man like us should avoid expensive shop. (Do not want to name the shop).

i dont think its a point about your car being expensive or cheap.. if you want to open a shop to do retail we would expect a certain level of service. i might be poor today.. but not poor in future... i might be poor but i have rich friends who will buy rims from you... if i am selling a high end product and you approach me with a lower budget.. i will still try to help you by explaining what alternative you have and which shops you can go to.. not just ask you to F off... that the bear minimum service i should provide.

If TS got bad attitude because he is trying to drive a hard bargain, or bi good. I also tell u to go F off.

Lastly, has anyone cares to get Ah Yang side of the story?

If you want to open tyre shop and you only focus on the high end cars, good luck!

There are tyre shop that I saw luxury cars going for tyre or rim change but the shop also provide good service for B&B cars and even van/lorry.

your rims cost $1.9k per pc,it is no wonder they are so patient.

i do agree with your part on "agree then buy, don't agree then don't buy".

but customers has a choice to bargain for prices and need to be treated with respect.

i know there are some business owner when u ask for discounts, they turn nasty.

as if asking for a lower price is humiliation to their products or services.

these are the people that has got low EQ.

The indian father n son could be regular customer. Anyway, reading the stories, it seems no one keep bargaining except TS. So maybe the shop owner got fed up.

I got my 19 from Ah Yang, no such attitude.

Upfront, he doesn't want my trade-in tyres.

I also bargain with him and he is ok also.

Tyre and rim prices all about there. Ay most, $20-50 difference per wheel and rim.

If bargain within that range, I think ok. If pushed too hard, I don't think any shop want to sell to you.

a business deal is very simple.

if customer is not happy with the price, then don't buy.

if seller can't accept buyer's counter price, then just let them go.

there is no need to scold or ask people to get lost or ask people to close shop.
