If you pay the taxi, your insurance company technically can take that as an admission of liability on your part. Thus you can lose your ncd. You better call your your insurance instead of relying on us here who may wrongly advise you.
Steptronic Supercharged September 28, 2012 Share September 28, 2012 Felt sorry for your accident. Never mind, it is part of life these days. My 0.02$: 1. Did you have a camera, which can show that you completely stopped and after someone rammed only, you touched the front taxi. If yes, please report to your insurance with this proof 2. If the above is possible, having known the taxi companies, I would not go for private settlement with front taxi. Taxi can come back with a 10k bill later on showing all medical reports and other things. In case no video, since it is very minor for front taxi, settle privately with him and get a note from him that he is okay and damages were paid by you and attach this note (with front taxi uncle sign) to your insurance. 3. Write down a complete report with video and photos and send it to your insurance company within 24 hours. 4. Ensure that your workshop is listed in your insurance. Discuss with your insurance and workshop and come to a conclusion before the workshop starts any work. Please note that the behind taxi's insurer can come and access your damage, of course the worshops would know this procedure. 5. Check your physical condition closely. By the way you have written the damage at the back, I would assume it is quite a hard impact - whip lash is a slow killer - mind it. If you are in doubt, consult a doctor. If slow moving, I will shorten the gap. If rain, I will maintain gap becos I had 2 accidents before when I came to a stop for few Secs before 2 diff jokers banged to me at diff place diff time. Both chain accident and both I m the first. both times I left quite a space between me and the front, prob slightly more than half a car length bah. It pays to be vigilant. What kind of mentality here? Whats the big deal about other drivers cutting infront of you. You prefer running into someone backside then have a safer gap? just enjoy your driving....why stress yourself so much......

Wouldn't signing a note saying that you were at fault for banging the taxi driver, prove that you were in the wrong? I wouldn't settle with the front taxi...just let insurance take care of it. Taxi driver probably knows he will get a quicker pay out from you rather than from the last guy in the chain. Dllatimer Neutral Newbie September 28, 2012 Share September 28, 2012 Quote Thanks pal. Noted on the whiplash thingy. No video so will get the taxi uncle to write a note and sign as proof to settle privately. Not sure why do u want to settle it privately. Not sure what will the party do. Maybe a few week/days later, you might received lawyer/insurance letter against you. Then who will settle your damages? The rear car bang you pushing you to the front. Write your report properly saying you are stationary and the rear car bang you. If you go to a 3rd party workshop, I think quite hard as the 1st car and you the second car cannot co-operate and point finger to the 3rd car. I recommend to go your insurance and goto your insurance authorised workshop for this matter involving taxis.

Came a BMW bang me hard to kiss the car in front. Final verdict, the insurance company simply use that bola rule to settle. I am deem liable. I sent my objection to my insurance company but they simply ignored. Now, NCD down to 20%. Loading up 100%. Insurance company are all leech. And we are all forced to let them suck our blood. For TS, if the taxi driver in front can take money and settled will be the best option for TS.
