i heard today maths paper got a funny question

 

how heavy is 8 $1 coins?

The 8coins question do not need to measure. Cos 3 of the choices are highly unlikely.

 

Can straigth away rule out, 6g, 600g and 6000g.

60g is most probable among the choices.

My son PSLE also mean I'm on PSLE. I'd to relearn all the P6 math and science.

2 down and 2 to go.

Never include higher Mother tongue?

Same here. I do not know how many 12 years olds actually know how heavy is 100gm? Or how heavy is a handphone or $1 coin for example.

 

My son told me after the exam, many students crowded around the school principle to ask about this question, and even top students were buffled. Those who got it right seemed plain lucky.

As enye puts it, more life experiences. My son probably knew it because I always buy durians in weight. He know two big MSW weighs 4-6 kg, and a typical small durian weighs 500g - 1 kg. So that rules out the 600g and 6kg.

Think many students were caught off guard by this question, especially after putting in months of practice. Thank goodness it is only 1 mark.
