Massive brawl at Apple supplier's factory

About 5,000 police officers are called to stop the fight involving 2,000 workers at the Chinese plant.

 

Yahoo report : Foxconn plant closed in China after workers brawl

A Foxconn factory in China, which assembles Apple's iPhones, has shut down for an indeterminate period after about 2,000 workers were involved in a brawl at a dormitory.

 

The plant was closed Monday and it is not clear how long the shutdown will last. Foxconn said the trouble started with a personal fight that blew up into a brawl. But some people said they had heard factory guards had beaten workers, sparking the uproar. These accounts could not be independently verified.

 

The unrest is the latest in a string of incidents at plants run by Foxconn. The company has faced accusations of poor working conditions and mistreatment of workers at its operations in China, where it employs about 1 million people.

 

Authorities told Foxconn that about 40 people were taken to hospital and a number were arrested.

I am no fan of PRC, but sometime they think its the only choice they got. we got no idea about fighting against the odds and stuck in s--t situation cannot get out.

its been recorded in the past histories and with proven records, they are always fighting for something... -_-

actually how sure are you that they are been ill treated??

 

you been there before?

 

if you are going to mention those so called leaked reported. then how authentic are you sure they are?

 

dont forget, official report mention that they are better treated then many other areas in china.

in the first place.. you need to know how it works in china...... they may be better treated than many other areas in china but this does not mean they are not ill treated

It is not about being chinese or what. It is the conditions they work in. No workers union, inhuman bosses, no recourse in govt, no rights at all. those poor workers are little more than ants to the bosses.

 

But that's where great profits can be made.

 

You don't get this kind of thing in western countries because they got unions and human rights and the govt and legal system protects workers.

"Official report" - this term ah.... means nothing, when used in Singapore, China, Malaysia, anywhere without a free press.
