Mercur1al Clutched September 24, 2012 Share September 24, 2012 Need some advice on the following. Looking at getting a second car for the missus who just passed license. Objective is a cheap small hatchback for her to get used to driving and work (she's in sales). Pretty much narrowed down to Getz or Swift. Can any past/current drivers share your experience? Be it maintenance, FC, positive or negative encounters. Btw, quite a few engine variants, so remember to list your engine too! Thanks in advance! ↡ Advertisement

Lovemyride 4th Gear September 24, 2012 Share September 24, 2012 I'm driving a 06 Swift. Bought it 2nd hand and have been driving for 2 years. Mileage over 111k. Still in good condition, change wear and tear parts only. The previous owner serviced at CM even after warranty, and I'm also servicing the car at CM. Their package prices aren't that expensive as compared to Borneo or other agents. Of course, if you have your trusted workshop, by all means go ahead. Normal 10k servicing base price I pay $138. Usually total bill comes up to $200-$300 because will have to change parts etc. depending on how minor or major. My major servicing is coming up in a few months. Taking the $318 package. 1.5 auto. Has enough power for overtaking just that burn more fuel. Same for every car. Engine sound is quite loud. Can't expect it to be like a lexus for its price. I use everyday from East to West and back, one full tank can last about 5 days. I usually pump when 1/4 tank left. Esso 95 about $50. Some people said Swift is rather heavy for its class. Not sure about that.

To and fro ard 60km, plus some miscellaneous travelling per day would put your mileage at around 70km daily. 5 days... 350km for 3/4 tank. Not too bad actually... Timbuktu Clutched September 24, 2012 Share September 24, 2012 In case you have not noticed it, the trend here is for husbands to get huge SUVs for their wives, for maximum protection! I have lost count on the number of SYTs and chio-bu's driving the Cayenne, XC90, X5, Q7, or Evoque around my place! 13177 Hypersonic September 25, 2012 Share September 25, 2012 If just for driving to point A to point B, both cars should be ok. And Getz interior space seems to be bigger than Swift. But if in terms of safety features, maybe Swift is better cause i think Getz does not have any safety features like abs and airbag.

If she can't, the SUV only give her additional driving stress.
13177 Hypersonic September 25, 2012 Share September 25, 2012 Driving huge SUV is stress only when parking lo. Forward driving dont think got any big difference as compared to normal sedan car. ↡ Advertisement
