I don't believe that, indirectly it may not be but I am sure he is being appraised on the no. of summon he issues. If not what else is he being appraise on for his performance and job scope?

I think so, that they have to at least issue some "saman" here and there to show that they are on the job and doing their rounds. Otherwise, how to prove it?

Some of these drivers need the car for family transport or business, not for social or show-off... some just earn enough every month for all expenses including car running cost. Hence they have no extra for paying summon. The majority of them are the middle-income earners, which the govt does not support. [:(]

But let's remember also that these parking wardens are not exactly "rich" too. I don't think the job pays all that well...

The POV is about the reaction. No mention of dodging the law.

Anyway, the drivers my friend had in mind are the lorry drivers, pizza delivery guys and so on.

I can understand why most of you immediately assume the driver is the guy blowing more than half his monthly salary on a car he could barely afford.

going by that kinda flawed logic, if someone is of a lower income the law shouldn't apply to them? [hur]

there is a thin line between inconsiderate parking n being anal

my gf place has no open air carpark, the nearest mscp is about 2 blks away and the first 3 level is is season lots

near her blk is there 2 lane service road of about 100m long

i was waiting for her outside the car yet the summon auntie walkover to me n yell at me, move or i summon

if i am blocking a lane at a main road fine, does it make sense to park on level 4 jus to wait for her ? or i hog a season lot ?

Service Road/Main Road/No End Road ..... question is whether there is double yellow lines on the side of the road? Or is there a white line in the centre of the road ? If there are ..... the answer is obvious ....you are lucky that the Aunty yelled at you, she could have just issued the summons .... nothing about being anal... you should know what is the right thing to do ?

If you broke the law, whether you earn 100/mth or 10000/mth, you broke the law. How rich/poor you are or how much/little you earn, if you don't want to be fined, then don't break the law or take the risk, simple as that. Otherwise then please, all those poor people please park the lorries/trucks/trailers you drive for work anywhere you like. Cannot be right?

Mr Pannirselvam Muthusamy has had hot noodles thrown in his face and he has been punched in the ribs. He gets sworn at almost every day. This is the life of the enforcement officer for parking and traffic offences, because his job is to issue summonses to motorists who flout parking and other traffic rules.

Though only six months in the job, Mr Pannirselvam is already involved in three ongoing police cases of abuse by motorists. His plight is shared by many others doing the same job.

Certis Cisco, Mr Pannirselvam's employer, told The Sunday Times that the number of cases where members of the public have abused traffic wardens physically or verbally has been creeping up. This is aside from almost routine encounters, when motorists get angry when issued a summons.

Traffic wardens said that some drivers would crush the summons, or turn on their vehicles' windscreen wipers to get rid of it, or hurl it back at the officers.

----------------------------------------------------

MYTHS ABOUT TRAFFIC WARDENS... AND SUMMONSES

1.Traffic wardens receive a commission for summonses issued

Certis Cisco said this is not true. Traffic wardens are not required to meet a quota and are not paid according to the number of summonses they issue while on duty.

2.They can void summonses after they have been issued

The traffic or parking offence is recorded once the offence and vehicle details are keyed into the electronic hand-held device. That is why traffic wardens are unable to void the summons.

3.You can escape summonses if you throw away the notice or refuse to accept it

The Sunday Times was told by traffic wardens that some drivers would crush the summonses, try to use their vehicles' windscreen wipers to get rid of them or hurl it back at the traffic wardens.

But that does not mean the motorist will not be taken to task for the offence. An official letter detailing the offence and penalty will still be mailed to the vehicle owner.

Just too much [bounce1] I think the gov. have been too soft to these group. They have to prosecute a few to show to the public. I believe mostly are Singaporeans [shakehead]

most singaporean are sore loser. you want to play the "game"? you lose you pay. don't play? don't break the rules and nothing will happen. cheap skate drivers are plenty on the road.

As a Singaporean, I do understand why they are cheap skate drivers. Most are tightening belts to own a car. They are mostly half of their salaries into a appreciate asset. Not much left for parking fee. Plus kanna fine, definitely angry. But then in the first place, cannot afford well beyond, dun buy a car lah. Want to show off having a car, but can't even barely to sustain lifestyle. [shakehead]

Its never the motorist fault

for not putting a coupon

its always the warden's fault!

Perpetrators always

feel they are victimised.

It always everybody else's

fault except them.

Actually you all know the traffic and parking conditions, you should try to coordinate closely the time she come down, she should also try to wait for the car if possible, not let car wait for her. If really cannot, the hard truth is that the proper place to wait is MSCP. If you wait at the service road, you take the risk. If Cisco see, the truth is you have traffic offence, not that you are justified in waiting there because MSCP 2 blocks away, etc. You stop there, you take the risk.

be sure to practice what you preach

if she is going to be long, park at level 4 and go to her house to wait.

if she is going to be fast, park somewhere that is not obstructing other cars, and ask her to call you once she is ready.

The reaction is wrong. Should illegally park in the first place

I am no saint, I will park at service road .... but i will not wait for the Summon Aunty to yell at me before I move off. As soon as I see the Aunty, I automatically will drive off ....

Yes, you are lucky .... it does looks like you need to learn it the hard way .... please carry on what you are doing..... "Always the victim, Never your fault"
