absolutely man... save so hard.... play monopoly only to lose it all... for what??

rather spend on solid infrastructure.

also in the contract, they should get a few local company to understudy how foreign companies handle project of this size..

force the foreign companies teach them.. hahah

i see only foreign companies in the project (I know there will be local sub contractors... but why no local company as main contractors?)

Gahmen will always like to do these kind of big big projects during downturn so that can boost up GDP.... So, looks nice like lesser or no recession...

Underground utilities tunnel like these 2 cable tunnels will help to better manage our underground utilities infrastructure.

It will be easier to repair damage cable, easier for the companies to check for damages.

It will cost more in initial investment but it will reduce running cost as well.

These tunnels will reduce the complexity of our already very complex utilities infrastructure.

It will reduce damages to cables caused by excavation, reduce the need for diversion and reduce the time needed to trace for the damage area.

As for why the tunnel cannot use existing MRT tunnel is that MRT tunnels are not big enough and also these cables are going to the Substations which are not always located near a MRT station.

Furthermore, these cables are very sensitives to electromagnetic field and MRT are known to produce high level of electromagnetic field.

The tunnels are 6m in diameter and located 60m below the surface. Way below the MRT tunnels

Anyway such tunnels are already building in progress in the marina south area called common service tunnel.

Part of these tunnel are already completed and commissioned.

These tunnels are for water, newater pipe, electrical cable, district cooling chilled water pipe, refuse pipe and telecommunication cable.

Although this tunnel is not as expensive as the PowerGrid cable tunnel, this is a showcase for such tunnels.

This project cost 2bil to build..

why in the first place build a garden at a cost of 1bil??

wonder how they ues our tax payers $$...

Current our roads condition is worse off than JB

Take ECP for example, 10yrs ago and now... more pot holes and uneven road surface

if the expressway is in this condition, then it is much worse for major roads...

above are my 2cents

2 billion not a small sum which could hav been better use to develop renewable energy than some fancy underground cables.

IMo Singapore not so big a country how abt doing submersible cabling around the island instead to save cost...

Finally. Somebody managed to beat the record set by J22 for saying the stupidest thing ever on MCF. Congratulations, you numbskull. [rolleyes]

:D:D

Maybe he thought the submersible cables don't have to be connected to cables on land and can somehow transmit power "wirelessly" leh
