Throttle2 Supersonic October 12, 2012 Author Share October 12, 2012 to me, the defining characteristic is the design (or rather silhouette or shape), the rear mounted engine and most importantly is the revered "911" badge who has become synonymous with Porsche. and throttle is right, the porsche is not the best car in the world. the ALFA ROMEO IS. heh heh heh ok in case anyone takes it too seriously, i'm just jesting. ok. Yes, one day, i may try an Alfa Romeo, but not just yet...
Throttle2 Supersonic October 12, 2012 Author Share October 12, 2012 Around 70% of the owners cant drive properly around corners and are only good for straight line. Bring them to the corners and smoke them. Best way to bruise their egos. I am bad with straight line and corners, my 911 cant get past 100km/hr....is there something wrong with my flat six engine? i already stepped all the way and the RPM shows 7,000. maybe it's just me. help! inlinesix Hypersonic October 12, 2012 Share October 12, 2012 Together with all these engine talk sorted out, we can clearly conclude that despite some roots linked to VW due to the german ancestry, the 911 bodyline is 100% distinctive for the last 48 yrs and takes after no other car outside the Porsche brand family. Corporate ownership and shareholding is a totally seperate issue, likewise in the Volvo-Geely case. From the side view of the new 911, as mentioned in my earlier post, it does seem to have chosen to go the way of other sleeker supercars. but the bodyline remains 911, the performance, the sound, the capabilities remain 911. It is rather the other cars which have been doing the following, having used the dead Ferdinand's 911 design time and time again (some blatantly) as we can still see on the roads today. And its normal, thats evolution of the car design as a whole. I think this charateristic of being distinct in certain ways is evident in most brands especially the premium ones that have been around for more than quite a while. It's the only way to achieve identity for the brand. any brand. There is no debate about this. on leave taking it easy, long post... I like the outer look of 991 especially the classic looking p o r s c h e at the back. Sadly, why do they change the interior centre console to Panamera look? It look so much like a family car now. Would be welcomed by folks like me who use the 911 as a family car....haha

Remus325 1st Gear October 12, 2012 Share October 12, 2012 (edited) I like the outer look of 991 especially the classic looking p o r s c h e at the back. Sadly, why do they change the interior centre console to Panamera look? It look so much like a family car now. A lot of people do not realize that the high centre console actually pre-dates the panamera. The porsche carrera GT interior had a high centre console with the expressed purpose of reducing the distance between the driver and the gear shift knob. The designers for the panamera essentially took the centre console from the carrera GT and customized it with the vertu phone like buttons. The 991 has a much more youthful interior than the panamera which is a good thing. I sat in a panamera at stuttgart and was actually toying with the idea of buying one since i now have a child. But I was so turned off by the "uncleness" of the interior that i did not go for a test drive. Here are some pics of the carrera GT, panamera, and 991 interiors Carrera GT interior with the high centre console Panamera Turbo interior 991 Carrera interior Edited October 12, 2012 by Remus325

Would be welcomed by folks like me who use the 911 as a family car....haha The cabin of the 991 feels a lot roomier than in the 997. I think it is a combination of the longer wheelbase, wider front, and the larger raked windshield which extends further out in front of the driver. My wife was quite pleased with the interior space when we test drove it. The rear seats are just as small as the 997 however and only comfortable for kids or slim gals below 1.65m Edited October 12, 2012 by Remus325
Remus325 1st Gear October 12, 2012 Share October 12, 2012 You are right. But look-wise, Does n't Pana score over Cayenne? IMHO the exterior of the Pana is way nicer than that of the Cayenne but unfortunately the Pana can only sit four due to the central drive train hump at the back. Throttle2 Supersonic October 12, 2012 Author Share October 12, 2012 you forgot to release handbrake not lah, i release already. maybe i should not step on the pedal that is beside the accelerator at the same time. Isnt that pedal some "sports" activation? I thought i would go faster if i stepped on both the accelerator and the "sports" pedal beside it jialat, do i need to go back to Stuttgart to check? my 0-100 timing is 18 sec !!!!!!! oh no, how can i bruise anyone's ego on the road other than parking pretty ...... ↡ Advertisement
