Lurpsexx 6th Gear September 9, 2012 Share September 9, 2012 Never underestimate the power of 5 or 10 cents... when u urgently need one or short of one, and cannot find it.. then u know... 10cents still can use to make emergency calls at public tel ma... and when u lao sai and short of 10 cents to buy the toilet paper then u will know ah.... Last time when got chewing gum, we used to take the branches and stick the gum to one end, then poke the 10 cents out from the drain to buy another piece of gum to chew.. hehe... simple pleasures when for a kid.. ↡ Advertisement

Either you were lucky or you are bluffing. I am surprised Social Welfare officers didn't pick you up. First they do will be to call up your parents. Alot of trouble will ensue because they will investigate whether there are instances of child abuse, lack of proper child supervision etc.

Many years ago, there was this middle-aged aunty who would go around Redhill Hawker Center asking for money. And at one point, my relative overhead her talking about 4-D bettings. Don't if they buy 4-D, etc. Takings should be decent.

Silver_blade Turbocharged September 9, 2012 Share September 9, 2012 Looks like we stayed in the same area, many years ago. My parents move there a few years ago. A couple crates of beer should cost quite a bit...especially for 'beggar'. Anyway, the truely poor ones will either receive help from a few grassroot groups (gov and pte ones) in the area or get free food from some hawkers. Albeniz Turbocharged September 9, 2012 Share September 9, 2012 in primary school last time 10cents can buy a bowl of nice noodle ... last time pocket money only 25 cents daily You must be older than me. When I was in primary one, the cheapest soup noodle in the canteen was already 20cents. My P1 pocket money was 40cents. But in the subsequent years, the allowance was increased to 60 cents. Thanks to Ah Gong. ↡ Advertisement
