Hi,

anyone like to share their review of Club Med Bintan?

Bringing my kid there in Nov, 1st time to Club Med with the family so pretty excited.

Heard they even organize elephant rides in the compound itself, but don't know how frequent or if we are lucky enough to have this during our trip.

:D

Every since we started going Club Med a few years ago, it became a must go every year.

Your kids will not need any alarm clock. When they open their eyes, juz go for breakfast and they can play the whole day from 9 am to about 8 pm, non-stop except for meal time. They join parents for more programmes, can be into wee hours of the morning.

The kids club in Bintan is very good, they run many interesting programmes. When u sign your kids in each morning, someone from the club will be dressed in the respective day's theme eg in pirates costume, clown, etc to promote participation. But food wise, not so nice.

Elephant ride, yes the guests took the ride. Can also feed the elephant as well.

It's a good place to just go with the flow without having to plan anything and not be guilty about it.

Enjoy your trip, we will also be there again in Dec. [wave]

Hi, thanks for sharing.

Is the buffet food better or the alacarte better?

So far, I only see buffet, no a-la-carte. If the a-la-carte you are referring to is the restuarant near the seaside, no difference to me. They have a weekly really nice sit dinner by the pool (can't remember which day - Thursday I think), spread is good eg lobster, tenderloin, etc but taste is so so. There is also a special nite dinning at the resturant by the sea, Wed I think, spread nice also but taste also really so so, but that one, service very "luan"!

But if you are a coffee lover, must try the expresso with cinnamon stirrer. Best! I come home use normal coffee with cinnamon stick, cannot work.

In terms of food, Cherating is much better - chicken wings is great. They even serve foie gras on one of the nights. The Village Chief actually samples all meals except breakfast. [pirate]

I was there several months ago with the wife and 2 kids (2-4).

There is an elephant in the compound though I did wonder about safety as it was quite close to the kids... don't stand behind it as it does do its business any old time...

At the "bar" counter.. there is a kids section with steps.. they can go up and order from there as well... in the evenings there are programs.. we had a "casino night" and there was trapeze act as well... one thing I didn't quite like was during dinner, the staff (anything from a bartender to the CEO) can ask to sit with you.. this may be nice for some, but its tough trying to make conversation and I felt it was more family time...

There is a restaurant at the left side (when facing the sea), quieter and nicer. If you do go down to the beach, go to the left side as well near the rocks. plenty of fish... stripes, gold.. quite big as well... bring bread.

quite exp for bintan hor.... hmmm

For Club Med, you just stay inside the resort the entire time anyway. Bintan you save on transport and travelling time compared to say Club Med Maldives.
