Noctis Neutral Newbie September 1, 2012 Share September 1, 2012 Okay here goes, I have a honda stream (2007 model). When I'm driving, everything is smooth. Here's the problem, when at idle or stationary, the car's vibration (slight) is still bearable, but when the aircon compressor kicks in, my RPM would drop to about 600-700 and the entire car would rattle. If it's just a once in awhile thing, I wouldn't mind, but the problem with Honda is that the damn compressor kicks in every other minute. Although it has been like that for quite a while, it hasn't caused any problems but as of late, it has become increasingly irritable and uncomfortable to me. Anyone out there has faced the same problem? Any ideas what might go wrong and how do I go about fixing it? Much thanks. ↡ Advertisement
Lamemonster Clutched September 1, 2012 Share September 1, 2012 If u say it vib badly when the ac kicks in .... Than it should be the belt n tensioner need to replace. Your mileage , i guess its about 100k ?

Noctis Neutral Newbie September 1, 2012 Author Share September 1, 2012 My mileage is around 60k. 5 year old car. When I switch off the engine and turn on the air-con, even when the compressor kicks in the car does not rattle and vibrate, only when the engine is on this issue surfaces. Also to add, when I'm driving in the day and it's relatively hot out there, this rattling issue can get pretty unnerving.

Keithchue 5th Gear September 1, 2012 Share September 1, 2012 engine mounts could be part of the problem. my civic is also the same. feels like someone gave the car a kick. next week swapping the engine mounts and monitor. Honda magnetic air-con clutch is always problematic. might suggest that you look into it as well.

Turbonetics 2nd Gear September 1, 2012 Share September 1, 2012 could be engine or gearbox mounting wearing off.
Badieboy 1st Gear September 1, 2012 Share September 1, 2012 Same problem on my jazz. Just clean your throttle body and idle air control valve. I'm driving an accord now and idling is not so stable, after changing the battery my idling is back to normal, could be a couple of reasons behind vibrations and unstable idling. Genes 6th Gear September 1, 2012 Share September 1, 2012 My old cs3 had this problem too. Cleaned the TBs, replaced the idle control valve thingy, clear fault codes all also didnt solve the problem. Sold the car off a while later.
FocusWagon 1st Gear September 2, 2012 Share September 2, 2012 I also agree it could be throttle body. Perhaps otherissue as well. TB is easily and cheaply solved.

Jepp3144 Neutral Newbie January 13, 2014 Share January 13, 2014 Whose on coilover suspension will cause the stock engine mounting to wear off even faster, to avoid it maybe change to a better silicone type mounting but a bit ex. So stay stock better. ↡ Advertisement
