Haha, but in all honesty i'm pretty satisfied with Wearnes (from window shopping to post sales) as a Renault owner.

Maybe as a Big Cat owner, you get better service? Who knows. [;)]

HAHA....next round confirm >$100K ....

Don't think so. Looking at the last bidding exercise, the pattern has changed quite a bit. You don't see large jump suddenly for Cat A & B. AD also bidding progressively and not just straightaway put down high bid.

I went to a few showrooms over the weekends and it wasn't THAT crowded to push the bid to above $100k.

The crowds wasnt huge enough to push the bid above $100K and yet managed to push close to $100K! [rolleyes]

When it's crowded, it's due to super sales or freebies..........

Most of the time, the showrooms are cold cold green green one.

as the topic, did anyone visit car showrooms in past 2 days?

under new COE quota 42% increased, it should be crowd [:p]

will wait till those people who need cars to buy first, no hurry.

think most will still hold on till next year if there is no urgent need.

the tide is slowly turning, and COE should drop gradually for the next 2 years IMO

http://www.straitstimes.com/news/singapore/transport/story/car-coe-supply-grow-42-may-july-quota-20140411

There will be 42 per cent more Certificates of Entitlement (COEs) for cars for the May to July quota, the Land Transport Authority announced on Friday.

Buyers and sellers of cars up to 1,600cc and 130bhp will get 1,011 COEs per month - 41 per cent more than what is currently available to them. COEs for cars above 1,600cc or 130bhp will have 966 certificates - 38 per cent more. And there will be a 53 per cent rise in the number of 586 Open COEs available per month. These COEs can be used for any vehicle type, but ends up mainly for bigger cars.

The supply of COEs for commercial vehicles will also expand by 47 per cent to 770 certificates a month. Motorcycle COE supply is the only one that will shrink. There will be 686 pieces up for grabs per month - 4.6 per cent fewer than now.

On the whole, the monthly supply rises 32 per cent to 4,019. Motor traders expect this to ease pressure on premiums but do not think prices will fall by more than 10 per cent. This is because there is a significant amount of pent-up demand from motorists who have been holding off renewing their vehicles on the back of high premiums in the recent years.

http://www.lta.gov.sg/content/dam/ltaweb/corp/PublicationsResearch/files/FactsandFigures/COE_Quota_Allocation.pdf

Scroll down and we look at the stats from LTA from May 2004 to April 2005

Cat A: 46,999 pieces of COE released, divided by 12 month = average 3916.6 per month

Cat B: 22,373 pieces of COE released, divided by 12 months = average 1864.4 per month

10 years expired or expiring soon...

We look at the quota released now vs 10years ago if the numbers they release remain consistent.

Cat A: 1,011 vs 3916

Cat B: 966 vs 1864

The "demand" in the past exceed what is being supplied now. Cat A at almost 4:1 and Cat B almost 2:1. And since now a lot of cars are above 130bhp, a lot of cars moved into the Cat B.

From a bigger picture we see when the COE quota peaked with most COE released...

The total number of COEs released in May2004-April2005 was around 120K

May2005-April2006: 132K

May2006-April2007: 131K

May2007-April2008: 127K

May2008-April2009: 115K

May2009-April2010: 77K

Quota peaked between 2005 to 2007. Demand will remain strong if ppl still wants to drive.

If ppl are looking to see COE come down and stabilize I think they will have quite some time to wait....like in 2020.

By den the new population dunno have reached how many and demand for cars will surely increase.

So for those hoping for COE to drop to $10K levels. I think fat hope and LTA won't make that mistake of releasing too many quota, twice.

If you ask me, I rather save up the money and not buy any car.

Obviously LTA is holding back now thus the demand is pushing COE prices to new highs. I think they will continue to hold back to make roads less congested. The demand for car ownership will remain high regardless. We may never get to see it come down to "sane" prices.
