SiLangKia Supersonic September 15, 2015 Share September 15, 2015 (edited) Yeah, but will it have any impact on the scrap value and final value that i get back? Actually I don't think it really matters, they quoted without even checking our car.. and on the day we sent it there they gave us the cheque for 1000 without really testing or checking the car.. just a "once over" visual check to make sure its actually an altis You should have renew the coe of your altis. As altis is the most popular car that people renewed coe. So you drove the car to the scrapyard to scrap it? Considered renewal seriously, but wanted to try different cars so decided to scrap and buy second hand for now. Drove there to scrap yeah.. did it 4 days before actual COE expiry so car could still be driven on the road Edited September 15, 2015 by SiLangKia

Drove there to scrap yeah.. did it 4 days before actual COE expiry so car could still be driven on the road It really means the car must be at the scrapyard few days before the coe expiry date? Just drive there and the scrapyard will process all the document for you? Did they give you taxi money to take taxi back?

Just drive there and the scrapyard will process all the document for you? Did they give you taxi money to take taxi back? Best to have it there at least 1-2 days before COE expiry.. If your coe has expired you have to get it towed there cos it's not allowed to be on the roads. No taxi money leh :"( Basically they give you the money for the body and a receipt to show tt they have purchased the car body.. We brought tt letter to lta tgr w the letter tt lta sent one month prior to coe expiry & the transaction pin and did the deregistration. (Need owners IC). After dereg ... lta will wait for scrapyard to submit proof of disposal before releasing the PARF rebate (credited to owner's bank account) .. took about 4 weeks

VenomMX 4th Gear September 16, 2015 Share September 16, 2015 I never expected to feel what I felt yesterday as I drove my car for the last time. I muted the radio and drove in silence to my exporter. I had initially planned to maximize whatever remaining petrol there was left and "V-tec" all the to Turf City but that did not happen. I cruised along BKE and then PIE. A Swift Sport and a souped up Vios tried pushing me but never got the response they were looking for (I gave way to them lol). I was even glad (crazy I know) that there was a small jam at Vanda Link. I guess I wanted this last drive to take as long as possible. I never expected a car to evoke such emotions from me. Maybe it was because I have never before driven a car till the final year. Maybe it was because of the thought that my car would be harshly driven in some foreign land or even worst, stripped down for parts and the remainder crushed. I completed the paperwork and my exporter asked me whether there was anything valuable left inside the car. I had already emptied my car earlier on but still, I pretended to look inside. I got onto the driver seat, caressed the Recaros, gripped the Momo steering wheel and my left foot, by habit, stepped on the clutch pedal. My exporter, sensing that I would take some time, went back into his office. I took the opportunity to start the engine one last time, to hear the K20A engine roar to life one last time. I am not too sure how long I sat in my car, lost in thoughts, in memories, all the while absent-mindedly revving the engine. I then heard my exporter say "wa, you getting ready to race ah?" I switched off the engine sheepishly and handed him the key. He must have sensed that I was gonna miss this car so he began a sales pitch about an overpriced Civic FD Type R (he knew that I was looking for one) that he had for sale. I thanked him for his services and mentioned that I would keep his FD2R in view and he said that he would leave my car unlocked as he saw me taking out my handphone to snap some final shots of my car. I took a few pictures of my car (yes, i debadged it for keepsake). I then ran my hand along the perimeter of my car, and got quizzed looks from the Grandstand Mall security guys who were having a smoke break nearby. I gave my car one last pat on the hood, whispered goodbye, and walked away. Sorry for the wall of overly dramatic text, but I felt my car deserved a "eulogy" of sorts, at the very least. Enjoy the poorly taken pictures!

At least some parts of it is still living on...in Singapore. I did not dekit at all bro. I dekitted my previous DC5 and it was not a pleasant experience. Lol. Too time consuming and frankly, not worth the hassle. Maybe you can try searching for the visors in SHC forums. And if I happen to know anyone who selling a set, I will PM you. Enjoy the poorly taken pictures! I can identify with how you felt Even though I didn't really like altis, it was with us for 10 years and was super reliable though it wasn't a "driver's car". Grown to love it over the years, always appreciating how it started everyday w/o fail. Been on many road trips up north with the car also, and had it in the family since i was in Sec sch when we bought it new. A special bond has developed over the last 10 years & I've become so accustomed to it that its hard to imagine life without that familiar sight in the carpark Y'all ever get that feeling? Or am I the only one ↡ Advertisement
