Pressure cooking consumes less electricity.

Bcuz of increased pressure, cooking time is shorter, so less electricity is used.

I don’t know what you mean. But I like cooking with pressure cooker. I got two pots to cook spaghetti and chicken. The two pots are helpful for me who have to cook and take kids at the same time after work as my husband comes back later. Just set the time and wait for dinner while playing with kids. It is easy and healthy.

That is hard to say. I guess probably about the same.

 

"Conventional" pressure cooking pot is nothing more than a regular pot with a semi water-tight cover, a rubber/silicone seal to build up the pressure created by heating. And a safety release valve for overpressurization.

 

The heating can be from either electricity or gas.

If the pot is stainless steel, you can even put it over an induction cooker, Then it basically cooks like an electric one.

 

Electric one is more convenient as it often comes with some pre-programmed buttons and timer.

It doesn't have to cost a lot of money. You can wait for offer from Giant for the Sona brand.

 

I have a conventional one, which I have to replace the rubber seal. Otherwise, it burned the food since all the water escaped with a bad seal.

 

So now, I only use the Sona electric one. This one had a long-lasting silicone seal.

The Sona pressure cooker also works a slow cooker (without pressure). So it's very useful to replace a few cooking utensils.

I got two pressure cookers from my mil.

They must be30to 40 years old..

 

They have two pressure settings depending on which weights you add.

I just bought a new P cooker in UK and it only has one pressure setting which is the lighter weight one.

 

When I first used it to cook ox tails I used the same timing as I did with the heavier weight and the ox tails weren't cooked.

 

I now double all the timings when using the lighter weight and all is fine.

 

P cooking so much easier than slow cooking. [thumbsup]

 

BTW the cost of the P cooker bought in the UK earlier this year was S$54.

It was a Tower brand 6l stainless steel cooker I bought because it was inder offer usual price S$70.

that cheap ?? I saw online most are about 200-300

This was UK.

It's like everything here in Singapore.

Over overpriced.

I think what ever the pressure cooker can do,  a rice cooker can do also. I use my rice cooker as an improvised pressure cooker,  cook almost everything.  [laugh]  [laugh]  [laugh]

Not sure they cook in the same fashion.

 

Cooking in rice cooker not under pressure?? and can't cook as quickly as pressure cooker.

Not really. Sure a electronic rice cooker is very versatile. Actually the Taiwan version of rice cooker is even better.

 

Pressure cooker is really to save time. Now one of my favorites is peanut/groundnut pork rib soup. But the very minimum I need is 2 hours on stove, 4 hours in my slow cooker to get a not hard peanut. Im looking at a pressure cooker to do it quickly and during daytime without supervision. Ie take over my slow cooker.

Many thanks sir. I was looking at a philips one but will get the sona one based on your recommendation. Yeah I was worried about the rubber seals busting.
