Qpik Supercharged August 16, 2012 Share August 16, 2012 Yesterday, I sat down with my set lunch at TP Hub Burger King. While retrieving some stuff from bag, I noticed two old ladies, one who is in a wheelchair at the next table. Suddenly, the one not in wheelchair stood up and slowly made her way to the next table occupied by an Indian guy as he was leaving. I noticed she took a cup of unfinished ice-cream from the guy's tray, put it on her table and proceeded to clear his tray. She made her way back to her table and started eating the ice-cream without bating her eyelids. I was momentarily . After I regained my composure, I approached her to give her my lunch. To preserve her pride, I told her all I wanted was actually a cup of hot tea but it came in a set meal. I asked if she could help me finish my burger and french fries. She kept asking if I am sure, I reassured her and told her that I would be grateful if she could help me. I went back to my table and have my drink. Then a PRC lady came up to her and gave away her burger saying that she had gotten the wrong item too. I sat down, have my tea and started to ponder. For those who have bought lunch for poor folk that you encountered, have you come across someone with such strong character? If yes, how did you handle it? I wondered if there is a better and graceful manner to treat them to a meal. ↡ Advertisement

Babyt 4th Gear August 16, 2012 Share August 16, 2012 some may not want cash cos they dont want to be treated like beggar. actually such scene i saw before during the early 90s when i was less than 12yo. I saw old granny/uncle at hawker centres scooping leftover and eat. got one time this auntie asked for some money, i didnt give her but when she walked away and i saw her bloated legs concealed by her long pants, i realised with such condition, its not she dont want to work, it will not allow her to work also...so i gave her some money in the end. (yes, the infamous pushing the blame to a higher authority haha)
