Jchuacl Clutched August 13, 2012 Share August 13, 2012 I'm not missing your point, I'm telling you my point on their approach on conquering market at all costs. you are missing my point. My point was and still is, that it is quite well known that at times, companies subsidise their products very heavily (sometimes even at a loss) e.g. printers, gaming consoles etc because of the desire to claw back returns from the sale of content(s) and/or consumables. Like i mention, the relevant equivalents to Google are probably Apple, Barnes & Noble and Amazon. While i don't believe that Apple subsidise the cost of the iPad, the relatively cheap selling price of Nook/Nook Color and Kindle/Kindle Fire respectively gives a very clear indication that B&N as well as Amazon intended to lure consumers onboard in the hope of clawing back sales in the form of app purchases and the likes. In a way, their modus operandi is similar to printing and gaming companies, they (B&N as well as Amazon) sold their tablets/e-readers with crippled Android fork releases which arguably locks the end users onto a proprietary platform. Never mind the fact that determined wills and minds can prevail and result in the installation of open source AOSP F/W. ↡ Advertisement

Happily1986 5th Gear August 13, 2012 Share August 13, 2012 I'm not missing your point, I'm telling you my point on their approach on conquering market at all costs. and to what end would that be? And to what purpose would that achieve, tangible gains wise? A paper exercise in increasing the market penetration of Android tablet devices but with no strong corresponding increase in revenues from Google Play. Estrangable 5th Gear August 13, 2012 Share August 13, 2012 Apple MY sells ipad at RM$1499 which is about S$600. cheaper than SG by $60. It is sold by Apple's authorised distributor: Machines http://www.machines.com.my/newipad_pricing.html warranty is applicable no matter where you buy your ipad, dont believe? call apple SG to check. when you drive in to pah you, just swing by city square to buy if you are looking for cheap ipad casing, go to www.dealextreme.com to buy but they take about 1-3 months to ship you something. but hey they are cheap! get it from the airport T2 or T3, 7% cheaper...savings definitely more than buying in malaysia. Got my macbook air from T3 and it came with some freebies as well and changi reward point...not too bad

Lycanthrope 4th Gear August 13, 2012 Share August 13, 2012 hi .. how does DUAL SIM works ..how to apply ? is it something like .. say I'm using a nokia e6 , then i went to buy galaxy tab .. is dual sim works like .. i can still make phone calls / sms/ whatsppp on my nokia and at the same time surf internet / or make calls on my tab ? if you on Singtel plan, you can always top-up monthly $10 to opt for Dual SIM. Currently, I am using Dual SIM. One for iPhone, one for iPad. Same plan. Lastly, I am apple user, I will suggest iPad. Recommendation: try to use the same band for both smart phone and tablet. Data transfer is easier.
Jchuacl Clutched August 13, 2012 Share August 13, 2012 Kill the competitors so that you can dictate market prices thereafter . If you're looking at new, the price won't vary too much as apple has price restrictions on their retail partners.

If your Tab can make phone call, then both can use as a phone to call out. For incoming call, only the primary phone selected can receive call. Usually people get dual SIM 1 for phone another for Tablet to surf and all that. ... Apply to your telco, every month pay $10 extra. ... they will charge you for the new sim card in your next Bill. This is a common tactic used in this industry, for eg Intel, Microsoft, Oracle You must kidding. War of attrition is not unheard of but surely you understand that a war of attrition is usually resorted to by market incumbents or players with a pugnacious grip on the market. Such that, the attrition that ensue will not bleed themselves out to the point of financial ruin! Firstly, Google does not and may not questionably anytime soon, assume a point of market stranglehold as Intel, Microsoft and Oracle did in their respective domains. Secondly, Apple is certainly far more robust than a candle in the wind as of now! War of attrition, i think not!
