Great idea.

I am using an Android phone and I have downloaded a free software called "Call Filter". Once a number is added, in fact it has the "add last incoming number feature", future calls from that number will be rejected immediately, that party will not even hear any ringtone.

Here's the list:

6572 2610

6305 1084

6305 1082

6507 7338

6253 7834

6576 5478

6236 9258

6536 8563

6521 9929

6255 1674

6635 3560

6645 3087

6646 0930

6287 7942

6591 7000

6534 5723

6502 2088

6635 3213

6645 3082

6344 3306

6534 5954

6417 5867

Anyone with a fax, please fax them.

And put it on repeat.

:D

I never get marketing calls, ok maybe less than 5 a year. The trick is to state in any application/membership forms you filled up with strict instruction not to call you for any marketing calls and not to share your data with any business partners without your consent. I also have a standard email template that I have sent to numerous organisations over the year. Gradually, such calls have stopped. For property agent, I just call or sms them and ask them to remove my numbers from their distribution list, it usually works.

You need to nib the problem at its source. Data trading/sales is rampant in Singapore, you tell them you not interested and they sell/trade your data onwards to another partners. It is sickening. The banks, insurance companies, clubs and associations are the worst culprits. New regulations are coming soon.

Since my line is company's paid, rather than getting irritated, I now pick up their calls and let them talk.

Normally, these are pinoys, china dolls and indians, not locals (Singaporeans). Most are just rehearsing from scripted sales pitch. They will continue to talk for 1.5 to 2 mins without checking whether you are still alive or not. LOL..... Basically, it's one way communication, and it does not take more than common sense to know that this type of sales call will fail big time. Wonder why they did not learn and keep on pestering us.

I will put them on loudspeaker, so that all my colleagues can hear.

I don't want to be rude to cut them out. So, I allow them this rare opportunity to horn their "sales" pitch. Good for them as a training ground.

It is also a good source of jokes for my colleagues. Sometimes, when I have too many such calls in a day, we vote who is the funnist telemarketer, who's the most long winded, who's the most cartoon. [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]

Somebody should write an App for this.

Here's an idea.

Once installed on your phone, calls from blacklisted number already on the database will be blocked.

Any users can submit numbers to the database.

But to prevent abuse, database will only be updated if more than, say 5 users, submit the same number.

Users can update database periodically.

Spammers begone!
